I think Rock Hunter and Kiss of Death were two that didn't make it

Hopefully these sell relatively well, so Fox can dip in some more.

So the upshot of this program is that Fox listens to what its fanbase wants the most, prepares those titles for release on Blu-ray, and then excludes them from normal retail channels? I don't understand this business.

What on that list is actually any good? I'll probably pick up Carmen Jones and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, but I'm not too familiar with any of the rest.

I've long thought that Desk Set is fantastic. Easily my favorite of the Tracy-Hepburn comedies. I've watched it at least half a dozen times and never enjoy it any less.

Wasn't My Darling Clementine up for contention? Was that really passed over?

It was only a contender insofar as people voted for it in the write-in box.

I would think that this would get one of those special restorations. This is a special title for Fox. It's another one of those Ford and Fonda titles, like the Grapes of Wrath. I am also keeping my fingers crossed for another Fox Fonda title, The Ox Bow Incident.

I am waiting for TCM to start revealing their 2014 Film Festival line-up because I would expect these two to screen there. Especially if fully restored.

The FoxConnect exclusives really piss me off, as they won't ship outside the US. It's ridiculous. I finally found a place that would sell me one of the Kazan bluray sets, but it costs a fucking fortune.

Actually, according to the HTF thread, these will be available through other retailers, not just Fox Connect.

Where did you managed to get these? I would really like to buy the Kazan sets, but FoxConnect won't ship to South Africa.

They are, in fact, available for pre-order at Amazon for $17.49 with a December 3 release date.

A restoration of My Darling Clementine will be playing at the Film Forum (NY) in late January for week. Fox will most likely release the blu in the spring. I hope they release The Ox Bow Incident as well.

Finally! One of my favorite Fords. I envy those in the NY area, but will gladly settle for a good Blu release. I certainly hope that Fox either releases this themselves, or gives it to Criterion. I think I'd flip out if it gets stuck in the Twilight Time ghetto.

That Czech print is essential, even if it has less shots. It looks too damn good. I presume that's the "European" version?

Of Fox's classic titles, I'd most like to see The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, I'm surprised this hasn't been put on the front burner, given the popularity of Downton Abbey. Of course it would be nice if Criterion picked it up, but not very likely.

I always figured they would eventually release it since they did appear to have a thing for Ronald Neame nack in the day. I'm actually a little surprised they haven't.

I'd really like to see this released too (by Fox or Criterion, more likely by Fox). The print used for the old DVD was quite dirty and was missing the Oscar-nominated theme song over the closing credits (rights issues?). The print that has been airing recently on TCM is much cleaner and has the song restored.

Highly recommended and how wonderful that it didn't go to Twilight Time so more people will take a chance on it!

I agree. It's such unique take on what Hollywood, especially then, seems to always be horrible about. I think the use of language is its best attribute making the sound really work artistically.

DVDBeaver reviews The Black Swan and Desk Set.

Both have been completely bathed in teal making the color look absolutely atrocious.
