1. All info so far is speculation, and much of it based on a three-year-old script which may or may not be legit (I believe it is) and which of course is subject to radical change given Malick's working methods. The plot specifics of all four Malick films so far are pretty basic - even cliched - stuff, so any fan of his should know that it's how he tells his stories, how he communicates his themes, and perhaps his genuine belief in those ideas, that make his work special, not necessarily what he's saying.

Sorry, but I think if there were space vampires, dinosaurs, robot orgies, whatever, I'd appreciate it more if it came out of nowhere.

no, but I would like to continue reading the thread for the news and release updates, so if you and everyone else could avoid spoilers I, and others, could do that without worrying. I go into threads of films I haven't seen all the time with the expectation of common courtesy and awareness that anyone might read it.

I still believe he can surprise me, which could be with anything. I didn't REALLY think Malick would make a film with dinosaurs. He may not, but the point is that anything, even the un-Malick-esque, is possible with the film. I have no idea, and would like to have no idea, of how absurd this film might get.

Plus watching space vampires as they rest on the moon rock and narrate about how hard it it to survive without space blood in the cold dark caverns of existence would be the best thing in the world.

I don't understand this phenomenon I see in many production threads. If you find something as benign as that to be a 'spoiler', why are you even reading about the film in production? What news are you looking for, and what news do you deem acceptable? Seems like all you need is a release date.

I don't want to get into a whole spoiler-acceptability debate, but when it comes to Malick, some of us are particularly obsessive about total lack of knowledge of specifics about the films prior to release. He's simply on a different plane. You can talk about the ending of Inception all you want as far as I'm concerned, but as far as a new Malick goes, just don't post details, however tongue-and-cheek they may be, from script reviews, please.

Do you really think dinosaurs are absurd or un-Malick-esque? Space vampires and robot orgies I can understand, but if you put aside the way they've usually been used in movies, dinosaurs are just animals as natural as any other. As such, they seem well within the realm of his themes and interests, especially given their close relationship to birds. It's not much of a stretch to link them to the extinct parrot that Malick featured (however incidentally) in The New World.

I'll admit that on the best of days I'm no Malick fan, but does anyone else find it strange (and somewhat hypocritical) that a man apparently so completely infatuated and mesmerized by nature has chosen to turn away from the real thing in favor of inevitably rubberized, lifeless CG creations?

Maybe the real dinosaurs are on strike? I mean, WTF dude?

Also, if you're gonna call him hypocritical, just go whole hog and question the fact that he's a filmmaker at all, it being one of the most invasive, destructive, inefficient and wasteful mediums there is. Nitpicking about CGI animals which are otherwise extinct is pretty silly.

No surprise given it wasn't in the early lineup announcements, but "Tree Of Life" won't be ready for Venice or TIFF.
