Not for me it doesn't.
It appears to have worked for me. Just ordered 14 upcoming Blu-rays. It says that the code doesn't apply, and it doesn't show a discount for each item, but the total of $447.44 gets a promotional discount of $223.72. Doing the free shipping option on that many pre-orders puts them in three groupings that will come in April and May. I'll have to wait a while on the March titles, but I save over $40 in shipping charges by doing it that way.
Cash Flagg wrote:I figured it out! For some reason, you can't get 50% off of pre-orders if you're using Firefox, but it works fine with Safari and IE.
Firefox on Mac worked for me.
swo17 wrote:It's not only taking 50% off preorders, it's taking 50% off the already discounted price, so 60% in total.
You're right! Only on pre-orders though. Since it doesn't take 50% each item on pre-orders, but rather the entire cart, you get 50% off the already discounted price. Insanely good deal.

Hmpf... With the Canadian shipping price, it's still cheaper to hope that my November's Barnes & Noble Criterions are going to ship...

Was anyone actually charged for the pre-orders?

no go on pre-orders in chrome or IE....but whatever, they'll cancel those anyway. they only said "IN STOCK" 20 times in response to questions on fb.

They don't charge until the order ships.

It's certainly worth a shot. Most stores will honor discounts quoted to you in your online order.

I figured as much. I'm pretty sure that Criterion will flag these orders and cancel them but I'm going to try. Won't hurt, right? Also, it seems that the pre-orders work on any browser, you just can't have an order with any in-stock item on it.

It's worth a shot for me. I re-ordered two in-stock and three pre-orders. We'll see.

I took a shot on 5 pre-orders. That was the only way to offset the crazy Canadian shipping fees. Came to about the same as a B&N sale for 5 Criterions to Canada. Order went through, we'll see if it gets canceled or not.

If you add pre-orders to your cart FIRST, all the in-stock items become half-off the sale price. Even if the pre-orders get canceled, I don't think they can jack up the price on the in-stock stuff.
I got Fish Tank, Senso and SSOS from Amazon the other day, and I've initiated the returns process. Even if Amazon charges me to ship it back I'm still saving $10 a title by going with the Criterion sale.

Preorder discount no longer works, just tried it and it doesn't even register. Since I only want the 8 1/2 blu I'll just buy it from Amazon, no way I'm paying $6 for shipping.

Are you sure? I don't seem to be having any problems.

With just Pale Flower in my cart it won't take the code, I don't know if there's another way to get it. I'm using Chrome and it was working before but now the code doesn't do anything for preorders.

Pre-orders aren't working for me either.

What's the hurry, guys. [-X I am waiting for the 100% off sale when they hit 100,000 fans on Facebook (and that's gonna last TWICE as long).

Amazing. I've just upgraded the 21 DVD titles I've sold over the last two months for basically no cost other than my time and patience. And I cashed in the bonus $50 for Senso and The Sweet Smell of Success.

Pre-orders do appear to be dead now. I've tried it different ways: pre-orders only, a mix of pre-orders and available titles, putting pre-orders in first, putting available titles in first. No matter what you do it only gives the discount on the in stock titles, and only discounts them to $19.97 now.
Hopefully they'll honor the price on the 14 upcoming Blu-rays I pre-ordered an hour ago. They ended up being $16 each! \:D/

Alright I did it. I've got them all listed under Open Orders and 4 separate shipments. I'm nervous and excited and scared. Let me know if you get any updates!

Oh, goddammit, I missed the whole good part of the sale. This is what happens when I actually leave the house :/

Me too, especially because there are several preorders that I have pending with Amazon at the moment that I'd love to cancel for $16 a piece prices with Criterion. But oh well. I'd pay $100 for Blow Out, let alone $25.

Re: preorders, I really hope Criterion realizes that if they cancel them from my order, I'm just going to wait for the next 50% off sale to buy them again, and at that point, Barnes & Noble will be taking a cut. It seems like it's in their best interest just to honor the orders.

UGH, now I decided to just order some current releases and can't even get those, because they're temporarily out of stock! Forget this sale, seriously

That's why you should always jump early. I'm sure some of the older releases haven't been backordered yet.
