It also doesn’t help that, in my opinion, there’s a better version of them based off personality and animation in their rebooted forms from Jellystone (which somehow doesn’t have as much as a DVD release).

I wish I could muster up that feint of praise! Words and Music is arguably the worst and most laughably fictionalized biopic of the era. Three Little Words at least has not being Words and Music going for it

I imagine we’ll eventually see at least one more Red Skeleton Blu-ray too, since WA does seem to give preference to their Minnelli holdings (kinda still half expecting for them to drop the Sandpiper to round out this month of winners)

According to the most recent WA podcast, a film noir with a “very famous” leading man will be part of September’s titles and only just missed out on being announced with August’s. More Astaire is coming in the future as well

Wasn’t 2024 meant to be an incredible year for WAC releases? I’m never trusting a word that guy says again.

I would really love for the coming Astaire to be the Astaire/Rogers films. I know the elements are less than ideal, but it’s pretty ridiculous they haven’t been released on Blu-ray yet. Surely they’d sell better than many of the trending mediocre films nobody asked for?

I'm hoping/betting on Yolanda and the Thief, because they love Minnelli

I’m hoping for this too, it’s been conspicuous by its absence when every other major Minnelli musical has been upgraded, but it would be the most WAC thing ever to promise Fred Astaire and have it be Dancing Lady - they do love Joan Crawford. The only other possibilities, assuming no Ginger, are A Damsel in Distress, The Sky’s the Limit, the Bell of New York, or Royal Wedding, which is in public domain but they’ve released PD pictures before.

I agree it will probably be a Bogart noir, maybe Conflict, which I actually kinda like despite having plenty of the typical 1940s psychological silliness, the cast is great and Bernhardt is good at making weird, dreamy imagery and atmosphere - not a great movie by any stretch but an entertaining one, I think.
But really with WAC it’s hard to tell, it could be something like Johnny Eager because they think Robert Taylor is a big star.

I was thinking about The Bribe (1949) with Robert Taylor.Not a very good film in my opinion but what a great cast:Taylor,Ava Gardner,Charles Laughton,Vincent Price...

I think Conflict (not a great movie) or one of the Mitchums (perhaps Where Danger Lives or the Locket, because those are films where you could say there’s only one big star involved) is highly likely because there are better ways to hint at every other guess lobbed here. Perhaps, if we are getting extravagant with our definitions of a big star, the Unsuspected (but this is just me willing it into being)

With Rayns you also stretch the concept of leading man, even when he's top billed. Same with Robinson (Illegal).

I love Where Danger Lives - like Dark Passage, it’s not the smartest or most well-turned noir, but it plunges deep into pulp nightmare tropes. And John Farrow’s noirs are always worthwhile.

Didn’t notice this until I was swapping the DVD out for the new Blu, but the two radio adaptations of Mr and Mrs Smith (including one with the parts played by Errol Flynn and Lana Turner!) are new extras that didn’t appear on the original DVD

Of course they screwed up Journey Into Fear by not including both cuts. They did it for The Strawberry Statement, but this one somehow doesn’t deserve it
