Well it fits under random speculation. The copy reads:
The following titles are planned for release in the Blu-ray format (as indicated by press release or previous public statements made by the distributor), but release dates have not been announced
..and here's the link if you want to peruse the list of scheduled releases too.

That list is like if everything from this list were translated into worthless and then back into English.

The list of Criterion titles aside, the list also has the wrong studios listed next to the "forthcoming" blu. ex) New Line releasing Twin Peaks or Paramount releasing Rear Window.

Yes, but that's always there & doesn't spark as much random speculation, we need something to narrow it down some.

I think upgrading to Blu would be a great opportunity for Criterion to do a Shakespeare box (with Welles' Macbeth) & a Dickens box, with lots of extras to make it popular among libraries & English majors if not as much among cinephiles.

so guessing game time, right?

Gold Rush
Bitter Rice
Y Tu Mama Tambien

Wild Strawberries blu
Sans Soleil blu
Samurai Trilogy blu or Kwaidan blu
eclipse 32: Silent Ozu: Comedies, but...

ugh, there's so much more I want: Emigrants/NewLand, Lean/Coward set, Lean upgrades of Summertime, BE, GE and OT, Royal Tenenbaums, Autumn Sonata, Following, the Game.

I think we see some Pasolini this month, as well as Tenenbaums.

Would love to get Red River, rumored a couple of years ago, and for other unlikely studio properties, Touch of Evil and Repo Man, that Universal licensed to MoC..

I know they aren't the films that Kwaiden is, but I'm hoping for a Samurai Trilogy rerelease. One of my first foreign film (and Criterion) experiences; paid way too much for it at a Suncoast video in the early 2000s.

Also:

Sans Soleil/La jetee
Stray Dog
Drunken Angel
The Gold Rush

Some more possibilities from Criterion's facebook page: The picture of the new posters lined up along Criterion's wall are all on blu ray except: The Fugitive Kind, Z, Make Way For Tomorrow, & Mishima. And there's an original poster (non Criterion) on the other wall, but all you can see is the last 3 letters of the title "gro".

I haven't picked up any of those yet so I wouldn't mind. Not going to happen though.

Also from pix on the facebook page (and lots of postings):

Rocco & His Brothers (lots of Visconti discussion & pic of Alain Delon)
The Spiral Staircase (pic from Identification of a Woman...possible MGM title?)
This Is Spinal Tap (11/11/11 and many other pics in past month or so)

and there's the debate over which samurai flick is depicted in the one watercolor:
Sword Of Doom, Throne of Blood, or The Hidden Fortress

Hi-Def Digest has little to zero credibility (read any of their reviews for evidence).

As for releases:

World on a Wire
Chris Marker set
Juliet of the Spirits
Brand Upon the Brain
The Soft Skin
The Gold Rush

While I, for one, would upgrade my copy of Brand! in a heartbeat, I can't imagine it's anywhere near the top of Criterion's to-do list (unless the original release was a surprisingly big-seller or something).

About an hour ago, Ryan Gallagher tweeted the following:

and
I love coming home from work to find awesome news, but this is going to take a while to prepare.

Well Amazon is now listing the Wings blu ray as a January release by Paramount, so either the Criterion facebook photo was for something else or they are also hinting at other releases on their facebook page.

So I'll go with:

February:
Sans Soleil/La Jete
Throne of Blood
This Is Spinal Tap
City Of Lights
La Strada
Wild Strawberries
World On A Wire
an Eclipse set for Robert Downey Sr. (including Putney Swope)

Later in 2012:
Rocco & His Brothers
Le Samourai
Quadrophenia
Samurai Trilogy
The Hidden Fortress

I wouldn't put much stock in Rocco, that speculation was based on a picture that was later confirmed to be from Sans Soleil

Those planes were models for a Godzilla poster.

That aircraft photo was for Godzilla and the still that you believe is from Rocco is a screen grab from Sans Soleil. Please spare us any more of your "clues".
