The blog seems dead, they haven't posted the Janus films catalog on their Janus Films site, no Eclipse site, wtf?

We're talking real wrath of God type stuff here -- human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, random speculation in the cover art thread... mass hysteria!

I think I know why they quit updating their blog... Criterion finally got a girlfriend

Then where are the song lyrics?

I noticed that Criterion's myspace page says "male" whereas it used to say "female." Could it be possible that Criterion's lack of recent posts is due...

...to his recovery from his recent SEX CHANGE operation?

That joke wasn't funny when I made it last summer.

Well... I'm sorry I stole your joke by mistake, but I guess we can at least all be thankful that only two of us have said something that lame in the last six months.

Back on topic though, have we seen any evidence of the old double-wide keep-cases or any new single-disc digipaks? I'll be interested to see what we'll get in the next few months, with the upcoming (second ever, in fact, after burden of dreams) single disc plus book release of Sansho, and the handful of major releases that would normally warrent the wider spine for better in-store visibility.

owned.

the colors on the eclipse artwork look strange to me. i also don't like the uniformity of the eclipse boxes.
nice films though. 8-) Ozu is one of my favorite directors and i will be purchasing this set.

It was a nice change of pace to have news broken for once by Criterion themselves and not internet scouts from this board.

I actually like the uniformity of the boxes. If you`ll purchase them all, it`ll look excellent on your shelves.

thats what i figured.
Ah Sarcasm.
The godfathers statement makes no logical sense, obviously.
Anyway the artwork comes down to an "individual vs coordinated" packaging brand choice, obviously.
Ill leave it at that and leave you in peace.

I'm actually really pretty in love (heck of a sentence, right?) with the way this line is put together graphically. Each new announcement makes me even more impressed with the look of the other releases. Godfather is right, in a roundabout sort of way; these will make for a very pretty shelf or two.

Has anyone else noticed the Eclipse titles sound like Ozu films themselves?

Red would have been more fitting for Ozu.

Or maybe that green is supposed to be red? :)

When I think of color Ozu films, I usually think of green and brown, with a splash of red. Ozu = hippy chic

I think a warm Autumn orange would have better suited. (Late Ozu, Autumn, get it??)

I love the green for Ozu. It reminds me of green tea. Or rather, the taste of green tea over rice, if you will.

It reminds me of an Eddie Bauer catalog from 1993, but I like it.
