It's not safe to assume anything at this point. I'm going to write back to the U.S. theatrical distributor and to Kino Lorber and I'll see what they say. I want to make sure this isn't a page that could vanish into thin air if sales of the standard def DVD disappoint or for some other random reason like Kino's previously disappearing Blu-ray of The Sun.

Just heard back from both Leisure Time and Kino Lorber that their Faust Blu-ray will indeed be out on September 16. And to specifically address javi82's concern: Leisure Time has previously told me that they saw none of the strange interlacing artifacts Nick noticed on the AE Blu in their HD master and that the same source would be used for both their theatrical media and the home video release.

Does anyone have an idea of the status of the remaining WKW films Kino previously released (particularly Days of Being Wild)? It's but four years since the release of Kino's only two blu upgrades from their Wong selection. When this was last discussed in 2012, it was thought to be a matter of the lack of an acceptable transfer. Is this still the most likely obstacle, or is it possible that the rights have lapsed?

The version of Sokurov's Faust that is out now on Kino DVD and soon on Blu-ray recently became available for streaming in 1080p HD at Netflix. It looks pretty good to my eye. And I don't see any signs of that weird cross hatching/filtering that Nick detected on the Artificial Eye Blu-ray.

Might someone be some assistance with Kino's website?

I can't for the life of me figure out how to change account settings on their site - basic things like change my password. I emailed them asking about this information + closing my account, and they never got back to me. Seems rather bizarre. I don't think I've come across a website that doesn't allow you to change your password (must be in violation of some privacy law).

Also, I unsubscribed from their daily spam emails a few days ago, then today I noticed that I'm still getting shit from them. I assume Misterlime also runs their website now.

It's a great film, but basically a redundant release: the French BluRay, with English subs on the feature, is readily available for about half the price.

How to make it not redundant? How about porting over the more than two hours of unsubbed extras from the French disc? That's the trick that got me to double dip with MoC's Van Gogh. This is just a wasted opportunity.

Got the new Blu-ray yesterday. After a quick look I'm pretty confident in saying that the image looks just like the Netflix HD stream, completely free of the hatching/filtering that plagued the AE U.K. release.

At least the superior Arrow versions are still available. Hopefully the "Contractual reasons" don't spill over to those as well.
Still very strange that the US cuts are still not available at all in the US.

Hope Black Sabbath (AIP) isn't squished like the one on Arrow.

Regarding the cancelled Black Sabbath/Black Sunday double feature, Kino posted the following on their facebook page

We're sorry and understand everyone's disappointment. The Italian language versions will continue to be available on DVD and Blu-ray. THE BLACK SUNDAY AIP English language version will be released on Blu-ray early 2015 for $19.95. We're also planning a double bill of THE GIRL WHO KNEW TOO MUCH and the English version THE EVIL EYE to be released early 2015. The GWKTM and EE double bill will be released on both DVD and Blu-ray.

Since Black Sunday is coming by itself, and The Evil Eye is coming, I think Orlac is correct, contractual issue = we really fucked up the sync and can't ignore or admit it, so we will cancel it.
