I was debating to watch this again for the all-time list project, then told myself "hang on, what if an upgrade is announced on Wednesday", if so I don't want to watch it twice in such a short time-frame. Then I saw your post!

This was posted back in the summer of 2015 on the HTF.
- Continued to work on the 4k restorations of: “Animal Crackers”, “Cocoanuts”, “Duck Soup”, “Horse Feathers”, “Monkey Business”, My Man Godfrey” and “Shanghai Express”. These will be completed in Q3
So the timing for the Criterion upgrade of
My Man Godfrey can be fast approaching.

Forget My Man Godfrey, I want Shanghai Express.

Mark Harris visits Criterion to talk about his book/documentary Five Came Back.
I hope his visit is occasioned by an imminent release of
The Best Years of Our Lives or possibly
They Were Expendable, but I'm steeling myself for an announcement of
It's a Wonderful Life.

Those three have already gotten a bluray release. With It's a Wonderful Life being very recent.
Maybe it could be for Ford's A Long Voyage Home which we know is eventually coming.

In the wake of Being There, I would say no title is off limits, but Best Years of Our Lives has long been bandied about as possibly forthcoming

When has that ever stopped Criterion before?

As per usual, I'd just assume it's that they asked him to come in to do this piece to promote the release of Being There and to promote his new series.

I don't think so, but a director's cut of Sydney/Hard Eight could be the release of the year.
