Dragonwyck looks slathered in DNR. French edition with the old maser seems to look way better.

Looks to me like the gamma or black levels are set wrong.

Seven-Ups as well.

Seems to come from a newer restoration with, surprise, more questionable color timing.

The TT looks completely awful, holy cow. Why do they keep going for these dark transfers?

yes.
I waited for this 4K restoration but doesn't look good at all.
The blacks are milky due to questionable gamma/contrast, the colors are weird and I also prefer the grain in the Signal one. It fits the gritty tone of the film.
I don't know if that DNR-like look is due to the 4K scan, but it doesn't seem so to me.

As for the aspect ratio, I don't know which is correct of the two.
Perhaps the TT one.

It's not only this, but the black levels seem elevated and the colors are, unfortunately like for other Fox 4K restorations, dubiously leaning towards blues.
It seems also that FOX has slightly DNRed it. All things together, it's way worse than it should have been.
Oh well.

Longtime forum reader and collector, this is my first post.

I was wondering, considering subsequent foreign releases which affect the price of OOP titles, what are the most sought-after OOP Twilight Time Blu-rays?

People are still paying a lot for Fright Night even though there’s a fine Eureka release. La Bamba and 1984 recently fetched the prices as high as $70 on eBay.

I can’t say for sure if Fright Night is just an anomaly but it does seem like availability of region B release hasn’t impacted sale prices too hard.

It seems like common sense to invest in a region free player.

Of course in the case of Fright Night, the Eureka release is region free. So there is no excuse for anyone to pay for the OOP TT release.

Are any screenshots/comparisons for Model Shop available anywhere yet? I'd really like to have it on Blu but given TT's spotty history I've been waiting to pull the trigger. Figured they'd be out by now.

I know we can't always assume a Sony TT title will come from Indicator, but even a lesser Demy like this seems inevitable

And MichaelB has suggested that foreign films/directors generally aren't Indicator's MO, but this would obviously be an exception like The Passenger.

I don't think that MichaelB said that foreign directors were necessarily a no-no - it's just foreign language. And I think he indicated that the Passenger was the only even remotely borderline case on that front that Indicator has on its slate as of a few months ago.

Most of the Indicator catalogue is foreign to me!

But yes, there are currently no plans to distribute anything not primarily in English.

(For what it’s worth, I don’t regard The Passenger as an exception - it may be a French/Italian/whatever co-production, but it’s an English language film starring Jack Nicholson.)

Unless I'm misremembering, isn't Model Shop in English?

I...didn't word my last post very well. I simply meant that, yes, Indicator isn't going to release an Antonioni film or a Demy film unless it's one of the few films they made in English, in which case it might be considered an "exception" for one of those directors.

And yes, Model Shop is in English.

Why? is that bad of a film?
I'm sure many will be happy.

I will confess that I would rather see Omar Sharif in the role of Genghis Khan than John Wayne.

Yes, it is that bad of a film. Anyone happy about this is a moron.
