I didn't get the email, but the set arrived here in good old Sussex by the sea by courier this afternoon.

If you go check your account, does it indicate it's shipped though? Mine still says it's at the warehouse.

That's a common issue, my Boro set still says it's at the warehouse.

If Rivette wanted to reflect a wintery look through the use of colour then this transfer doesn't represent that. There are cool shots in there: all of the outdoor shots and some of the aquarium stuff, but in general it's very notably warm. Although I don't want to defend the transfer if it's been consciously fiddled with, I can't say that it necessarily feels wrong: for a film about the battle between the Queen of the Sun and the Queen of the Night being bathed in a glow that could easily be representative of the light from either a rising or setting sun feels apropos.

I just ordered this motherfckr. Strangely I could not do it from Arrow (no response to the Add To Cart button), so I went with Zavvi.com for 5 quid more than Arrow. (Why is Amazon selling this for much more?) I'll find out soon enough if my player is region free or not!!

But the light from the sun only refers to Bulle Ogier's character. The other characters, and specially Juliet Berto's, are supposed to look extra-pale (one of the reference points for Berto's look was Ugetsu's Lady Wakasa).

Out of interest which courier is delivering these?
and did you pay more for delivery?

Still waiting for mine in Yorkshire. [-(

Yodel, quite simply the worst courier service in the UK bar none.

I received the copy that I pre-ordered months back from Amazon this afternoon, and I did feel appropriately apologetic to the delivery driver who had to make their way through the snow on a Sunday to deliver it!

Anyone else having trouble seeing the review of this set on DVDBeaver? When I open the page it loads a very partial version of the page, no review or anything, just the old poster images. A similar thing happens with the review of Arrow's Battles Without Honor & Humanity, although there I can at least read Gary's review of the set, I just can't see any image comparisons, menus, etc...

Are you on your phone? Most DVDBeaver pages do that for me when I'm on my iPhone for some reason

Yeah, that happens to me a lot on DVDBeaver - try another browser?

I hate to belabor this point, and I do apologise for being a complete luddite, but please help:

I live in Canada. I don't know if my BD player is region free or not, and I will gladly (eventually) upgrade it for this set alone, if required. If it isn't region free, can I still view the DVDs in this set? (I'm not interested in computer viewing.)

Thanks.

If you don't know upfront whether your player is multi-region, it's a racing certainty that it isn't.

Whereas lots of DVD players were either multi-region out of the box or could be rendered so via a "secret" remote control code, this is much, much rarer in the world of Blu-ray players. There have been a tiny handful of software switchable players, like the famous Toshiba BDX-1200 and BDX-3200, but for the most part multi-region players have been specifically modified at the hardware level - and you'll have been aware of this at the time of purchase.

The DVDs, like the BDs, are also region-locked - so it depends on whether your player can handle both this and PAL video. (Most North American players can't). Computer viewing might well be the most viable immediate option.

Thank you MichaelB. I'll very likely be getting a new player next week. (Current one was given to me.) I'm baffled that single region players even exist!

Edit: http://www.regionfreedvd.net/buying-guide.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; was very helpful.

I have received my copy and it really does look like an excellent package. I was a bit surprised that Duelle and Noroit are on one DVD despite being on separate BluRays, but I accept that this will not concern most users of this forum.

Anyone in South America who ordered the Rivette set or with experience ordering from Arrow?

It's difficult to dig through all the Rivette material on the forum to find actual in-depth discussion of Out 1, so can anyone suggest essays or articles to read about the film? I must admit that after watching two episodes...well...I just don't get it. Still, I'd like to understand all the passion people have for the film. Thanks.
