Isn't this a misreading? The explanation that Pollack gives is highly questionable, and the ambiguity of the film's final moments hinge on whether we believe or disbelieve his story.

It doesn't matter whether or not he's to be believed, but the scene drags on too long and I can't believe that Kubrick wouldn't have done something with it.

The lowercase on FMJ seems an odd choice.

It's only "Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut," which I've never seen before. I thought his contract always was for his films to be announced as "Stanley Kubrick's...."

It would make sense to a Marine or any vet who would know immediately that it is describing the rounds of ammo in the band of the helmet. It is also a better representation of the way Private Pyle articulates the phrase in the movie

Kubrick is obviously giving his brother-in-law new directives from beyond the grave:

"Take 'Stanley' out of the Eyes Wide Shut cover."

"Change the font and make all the letters lower case on the Full Metal Jacket cover."

"Subtly change the 2001 and Clockwork Orange covers."

"Leave The Shining alone -- that's the only one I really liked."

I noticed that the indefinite article is missing from the cover of "A Clockwork Orange". It is now called "Clockwork Orange". I think that is a more significant change than the typography of some of the other titles.

I think that was discussed earlier, but it is annoying. The triangle that McDowell is in on the original cover is supposed to be the "A," but the spine always said "A Clockwork Orange"...until now.

There's so much wrong with these new covers that I'll probably keep my old set just to have the "good" covers, which I usually never do. (I even got rid of my old "Deliverance" disc even though that new photoshopped cover sucks.)

I'm looking at the spine of my A Clockwork Orange DVD and there is no "A" it simply reads Stanley Kubrick Collection Clockwork Orange.

The greatest thing about this whole new collection is to be able to watch Nicole Kidman's derrèire in high definition.

Oh really? Do all soldiers only write in lower case, with odd spacing? Is this how military manuals look? And no one questioned what the words in the title refer to ( d u h ) but how they look. I don't know of any language that uses two words on top of third, separated by a horizontal line (as if this were some kind of math formula) except in poetry. As for Pyle's articulation of the title words... I don't recall him saying "full metal (pause[if that's what the line is supposed to mean]) jacket". His cadence was steady throughout the phrase.

They changed the fonts and grammar and punctuation not to fulfill Stanley's wishes or to better serve the titles' already well-established aesthetics, but because corporations are run and staffed by dullards who have to put their smudgy fingerprints on everything to rationalize the fact that they're not genuinely creative in any way, shape or form.

Of course, I'll still be buying these fuckers.

I have the "Digitally Remastered" version. I can't seem to find a pic anywhere except eBay. Appears to be out of print.
