Is that Hitchcock himself making a cameo as a card player in the eighth still (second from left)?

It was found several years ago, but last Sunday saw the world premiere of the 4K restoration. It's going on tour to a handful of European cities this autumn.

Not a lost film, but paralleling the discovery in the Grémillon thread, a US antique dealer on Nitrateville claims to have found the important original sound discs for the 1929 British silent The Wrecker, which had to be issued on DVD with a new score. He wants to reunite them with the film, though according to his account his initial approach - 20 years ago - to a BFI rep (in the US, if I understand correctly) was met with scepticism and failed to produce any agreement.

Hello, first time posting to the forum and I can't wait to dive in! I love lost films and have recently uncovered some home movies of the 30's comedian El Brendel including a previously unknown kinescope of a 1949 TV episode:

Three Herschel Gordon Lewis films, previously thought lost, have been located and their restoration is the subject of a Kickstarter project.
Through a combination of luck, happenstance and a lot of negotiating, we've acquired the negatives for acclaimed cult filmmaker Herschel Gordon Lewis' three lost sexploitation pictures, LINDA & ABILENE (1969), ECSTASIES OF WOMEN (1969) and BLACK LOVE (1971) and are seeking funds to properly restore and preserve them and, ultimately, allow the public to appreciate them for decades to come.

According to this posting on Nitrateville, The Vitaphone Project have located the lost Three Stooges short Hello Pop!.
I am happy to announce that The Vitaphone Project has located a complete Technicolor print of the long-lost Stooges 1933 MGM Colortone short HELLO POP! This is the only lost short with all three Stooges, and also stars Ted Healy and Henry Armetta. The 35mm nitrate print was found overseas and after some torturous steps to get the nitrate packaged and shipped, it is today safely in the hands of my friend Eric Aijayla at YCM labs. Ned Price at WB has ensured the funding of the restoration, and ideally we could see this within a year. The sole known print burned in the big MGM fire in the 1960's.

A fellow I know found some reels of film, probably from 1940’s or 50’s. He is a greedy bastard and is planning to sell them though he has keine Ahnung what those films are about. Or so I heard. I know I ought not to stand here with my hands down the front of my trousers. I hate this guy more with each passing day, but I should call him and talk him some sense. What should I say?

Ask to have a look at the beginning, perhaps you can identify the film by the credits and then see whether it's anything of value. If it's from the 40s or 50s, it's unlikely to be a lost film anyway.

Danke. That's pretty much what I figured, but the problem is that neither he nor I have no means to inspect these films. I guess I will buy these reels and then donate them somewhere. Probably the films are all about some holiday trips to Normandy France.
