This was about a month ago, but I remember seeing IASIP reruns on weekends at some time around 1 am. I haven't seen any recently though, and didn't even know the new season was premiering this summer. Has FX been doing any ads for the new season? I haven't watched the station very much this summer, but don't recall seeing any.

Help with the Falcon and the Saint on DVD??

Sorry if my first post is a flogging of the dead horse question but...

Desperately looking for any of the George Saunders/ Tom Conway series The Falcon on dvd, region no matter.

Have strong childhood memories of watching these back when BBC2 used to show a movie at 6pm on a Friday, the other film series they showed in that slot Charlie Chan and Sherlock Holmes have been given pretty respectable DVD releases (in Chans case pretty excellent from Fox!) but cannot find any Falcon DVDs anywhere? Help!

Plus any of the Saunders The Saint films, don’t recall seeing these and they are not on Brit TV’s frequent repeat cycle (lucky the Falcon is!) and would really like to give those a view!

So Double Help!

Thanks and great forum one and all!

Are the commentaries on Spaced by famous geeks worthwhile?

A couple of new announcements of note:

• A very reasonably priced Newsradio: The Complete Series

• great cover art for A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All

*speechless*

Number one DVD release of the year for me. I've wanted this for nearly 20 years.

Wow. Thanks for posting, Narshty. I'm a huge fan as well. I have the US sets, but this is extremely tempting. This show has aged really really well.

I got burned with the A&E sets too, thinking they'd trot all the seasons out in due course, but no joy. (Then it happened again last year with the UK sets.)

I still can't believe it was made in the era of He-Man and Thundercats, and that it was popular enough to go on for five series. It must be the most literary, not to mention lyrical children's programme ever made; the emphasis on character over plot, a deep love of tradition and the seasons and its sense of the English countryside as a lost Eden. A great show.

Koch is releasing a box set of CBS's Studio One programs. Nice to see this sort of stuff making it to DVD finally.

Does anyone know if Patterns was part of the same anthology series? I'd love to see that released at some point.

"Patterns" was Kraft Television Theatre on NBC. You can get the movie version on DVD from Roan. If the TV version still exists, it would only be as a kinetoscope.

Yes, I'm more interested in the TV version. We watched it when I was an undergrad and it was pretty remarkable, and bit better than the film.

UGH, CUT-OUT SLEEVES. Did I call it or what

They're not always that bad. I've had my X-Files Complete Collection for almost a year now and not one disc [of 63] is scratched.

I share your disgust, but the Deadwood packaging actually looks like a Twin Peaks Gold type deal with hubs for each disc.

I don't know what to do with The Wire now. I'd been holding out on buying any of the seasons until I found out more about this boxset. Even besides the sleeve issue, I think I like the individual season packaging better, all shiny and colorful. This new box looks like prison issue. And it's got the same number of discs as the five individual seasons combined, so I'm not holding my breath for any additional extras.

In any case, hopefully the individual seasons will come down in price with this news.

I picked up the first three seasons when Amazon had them on heavy discount. I imagine once the holiday season rolls around, there'll be a repeat sale

If the Six Feet Under release is any indication, once the complete series set comes out, sales on the individual seasons will come often and very, very cheap.

I've noticed something odd with the two seasons of Carnivale on Amazon. They seem to randomly fluctuate in price between $20 and $50, sometimes just one season, sometimes both at the same time. At this moment, they can each be had for $24 each. I don't know if anyone has noticed anything similar with other HBO shows.

Occasionally they are both on sale for $19.99 at Best Buy. Actually, BB frequently has sales on HBO shows like that, but typically all seasons are included. If you're looking to buy Carnivale, $24 dollars per season isn't far off from that, and it's definitely worth it considering how much those [impressive] sets used to cost.

Which is probably when Amazon's price drops-- they often match BB's online prices

And on some big shopping days during the year (Memorial Day, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, etc) they sometimes do the 50% off all HBO sets thing at Best Buy, which is a great time to get something like that complete Wire set.

Frisky Dingo was so horrible until I started watching the episodes in order from the very beginning, which in turn caused me to skip the second season in exchange for a little bit of sanity amidst all the chaos (got in late on that one, too). And if they can release Shin Chan on DVD, they certainly can let loose with Perfect Hair Forever before 2010, right?

Shin-chan is a Funimation property in the U.S. All Adult Swim did was license the TV rights.

And screw Frisky Dingo, volume five of Space Ghost is finally out. It's got all the 1999-2002 episodes, so lots of high points there. Plus the full version of "Fire Ant"!
