That makes me think, have the Janus and Rialto big boxes been effected by this? Both are listed as in print with connections to the OOP films. Suppose that's an expensive cheat.

*affected

I believe Criterion commented, maybe on Facebook, that they had no plans to take those or the EAH boxes out of print at the moment. The legality of that doesn't make sense to me, but if more and more titles keep being discontinued then it could change the status I'd guess.

Are you talking about the SD man who fell to earth? does it have an alternate case? or are you talking about the blu? I can vouch for the third man reissue cover replacement I got one three months ago

Re the replacement cases: do you have to send them your original paper case in order to get a replacement, or will they just send you the new ones? I would like to upgrade mine but as crappy as they are I don't want to risk losing the old ones in the mail.

You just buy the replacement cases. No exchanges.

One more question: Should I expect some kind of confirmation e-mail from Criterion now that I've made the PayPal payment? Or will they just magically show up in the mail one day?

The latter. I've made three orders now, and haven't received correspondence from Criterion. The cases have just shown up within about a week after payment.

Love the Lawrence cover... but is this all we get for September? The website has just listed The Thin Red Line, Breathless blu, and Mr. Lawrence. I guess I shouldn't be so greedy with all the wealth that's coming.

UPDATE: As I posted this Charade blu has been posted. I'm completely satisfied :D

Godard is their most represented Director on Blu Ray. A shame Contempt (my personal favorite) didn't make it through.

This will be fantastic. I can't wait to upgrade. I adore the uniform plastic cases for the BD's, but I hope they stick with the Digi on this one.

Great new touches to the Charade cover. It's very Hitch inspired.

I guess the rumors of Hausu coming out on September 7th were wrong? Dang.

4 releases is still a pretty slight month, it seems like there should be one or two more...?

EDIT: After reading about this Eclipse set, it DOES sound fascinating. Goddamnit. I need to get a second job.

There'd be no way to replicate the awesomeness of the [Breathless] DVD case without two discs involved, but you're right - they should really still stick with a digipak.

The Piss and Shit Dramas of Allan King?

Has Criterion ever announced a title without also unveiling its artwork, as now seems to be the case with The Thin Red Line? Or is it probably still forthcoming today?

Yes, like, all the time.

It happens every few months with a title or two. We'll probably see it in the next week or so, and titles with late cover art announcements tend to be more likely to be changed a few times before their actual release.

They've seemed pretty consistent for the past few months in providing artwork at announcement - unless you were being sarcastic, in which case I am awfully sorry for not detecting it 8-[

Been awhile, though. The last one I remember was A Christmas Tale, which was announced, what, 10 months ago?

A return to the digisuck cases?? No thanks.
