Oh, wow! Thank you. Kino Lorber said it had been licensed to somebody, and I'd actually assumed it was Shout Factory, so this was just a fun throwaway guess.

It's crazy how long UCLA's beautiful restoration of Trouble in Paradise has been sitting in wait, too. It has the potential to be their best upgrade since Rules of the Game.

They keep delaying it because they need time to think up the worst cover art imaginable.

And there's a very tasty restoration out there, too, shown at MOMA and the San Francisco Silent Film Festival.

I bought the Spanish Blu-ray (region free!) which came out last year through Universal. It looks much better than the 20 year old Criterion DVD but I don't think it used the UCLA restoration.

It will be a cartoon because photographs weren't invented until the 21st century, and it will be a black and white cartoon because the only way to think about black and white movies is in black and white. Obviously.

But seriously. The film's poster art (I'm thinking of these two window cards in particular) would look great on a Criterion Blu. Indicator would do it...

I hope it comes out during an all-silent month, alongside a Lloyd, a Chaplin, and The Crowd. Not only would I be pleased with the slate but I'd live for the meltdowns and furious essays on this and other forums.

Which would be tragic considering the current cover art is excellent

I feel like the reaction to such a slate at this forum would be near-universal euphoria…
