Macunamia is just one film, one disc. The three-disc set is The Complete Films of Joaquim Pedro de Andrade, which is priced at $35.97.

It recently dropped down to $25 on Amazon, however.

Sorry for being a pedant, but the movie is called Macunaíma.

Crap! My apologies. The box set uses the same poster as does Macunaíma for the cover. I saw that and mistakenly believed they had the three disc set on sale for $17.99 when in reality they are selling only Macunaíma for $17.99. The box set remains $35.97. Apologies all around!

I know that, but my device and the fingers operating it don't always do what I want them to (a bad workman blaming his tools), thus the typo getting repeated.
It's an intriguing film, which I'd be happy to discuss in its existing thread if anyone cares to.

In light of their ABC connection has there been any word of Kino releasing Hopper's Out of the Blue?

Out of the Blue is now with an outfit called Discovery Productions, which is run by one of the film's producers. They recently did a new 35mm print with aid from the Cinémathèque française and are planning a 4K digital restoration. They're talking up an imminent crowdfunding campaign, but haven't actually launched it yet. My guess is we won't see any new home video editions until that restoration is done.

That's something I suppose though it doesn't offer the instant gratification I want.

Kino is having a June non-Studio Classics sale and it's a pretty good one. I picked up a bunch of titles.

Any recommendations? I've been looking to grab some of their more obscure international titles. I have The Banishment and Tu dors Nicole in my cart right now but would love to get a few more.

Along with the 2 you mentioned, I also got The Return and Le Quattro Volte both of which I've heard nothing but good things about. Le Quattro Volte is at a really terrific price too.

Thanks, I have seen The Return, which I enjoyed alright. Still have to check out Volte so this seems a good opportunity to get it

Barbara doesn’t have the best audio specs but it’s still the best English friendly release of an excellent film.

I ordered:
Clouzot: Early Works $26.99
RKO Classic Romances $15.49
Who's Crazy? $8.99

About a dozen rare feature films for just over $50—can't complain.
Due to the very erratic nature of what is and isn't included in these Kino sales, I'd almost concluded that I'd never again be able to put together another order that reaches the $50 threshold to avoid their high shipping costs, but it definitely helps that they've given us a few more multi-film releases like those first two. And the $15.49 price on the RKO Romances set is especially nice considering it was released just a couple of weeks ago.

Hallelujah The Hills sounds fantastic, and let's not forget that they have Pialat's We Won't Grow Old Together. I also couldn't resist Who's Crazy?, though I'm sure I'll regret it, and a few others.

I believe that it should be launched within the next week, and the plan is for Discovery to self-distribute the film on DVD/Blu-Ray/Streaming/DCP. I took it that they'd be available as rewards for the Kickstarter but I didn't actually clarify this. Bonus features +/- booklet is also planned.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but Kino Insider revealed on Blu-ray.com that they asked for M. Night Shyamalan's The Village but didn't get it. The insider didn't elaborate on whether it was acquired by another label or not at all.

I'm aware that the film is divisive, to put it mildly, but its continued absence in the format is quite conspicuous - after all, it was financially successful at the time, there are much more obscure or critically reviled thrillers available both by major distributors and boutique labels, and Shyamalan's reputation has improved a bit since then, what with the commercial viability of his small-budget Blumhouse fare.

Like Paramount, Disney has an outdated policy that they do not license Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures titles that they released themselves on DVD that weren't split off for sublicensing to Mill Creek ~10-15 years ago. So, titles like The Village, Open Range, Three Men and a Baby, The Ref, Outrageous Fortune, Stakeout, etc. are stuck in this limbo with Disney having no interest in releasing them themselves and also being unwilling to license them to boutique labels. Someday this policy may change (both for them and Paramount).

While the commentary’s definitely appreciated, it’s a shame there couldn’t be something from Lanthimos included on Alps too - I’m pretty sure the UK DVD had nothing and it’s definitely the less spoken about of his two features, from what I’ve seen.
