Random Harvest A well-crafted and handsome film that will drive the plot-obsessed mad but treat the rest of us more kindly, this is yet another strong nominee from one of the Academy's best years. Released in any other year, Garson would've been a Best Actress shoo-in for playing The Greer Garson role (too bad she was already nominated and would win this year for her best variation on the part). This is really Ronald Colman’s movie though, and he walks away with it, particularly in the first act when his shell-shocked amnesiac can barely spit out a sentence. The look of sadness on his face, like a neglected puppy, sells it all.

The two I want most (Random Harvest, Presenting Lily Mars) are from "best preservation elements" and not the OCNs, but I'm sure they will still look miles better than the existing DVDs which are both 20 years old. Crime Wave is from the OCN and should look phenomenal.

Crime Wave is great for many reasons, but I think the way it's shot is my favorite trait. Just the opening gas station shootout alone is a visual feast. Can't wait to see it in HD

I tried playing Presenting Lily Mars a year or two ago and the disc wouldn't play at all. Not sure if it was disc rot or I just had a bad disc

So nice to see Warner Archive keep digging into the pre codes library. William Dieterle's Jewel Robbery next please!

Any thoughts on Lilly Turner or The Keyhole? I fancy both.

Great announcements.
Regarding the plot of Random Harvest, I believe Bordwell uses it in Reinventing Hollywood as one of his (many) examples of complex "modernist" storytelling in Hollywood post-Citizen Kane. I guess he's fond of it as an example precisely because it's a middlebrow Oscar drama, and not some wacky B film noir...

I don’t think either ever had a DVD release, even via the Archives
