Maybe it'll be Night Across the Street by Raoul Ruiz...

Extremely pleased with this. :D

That's a good shout. If it's a new title, perhaps Alexei German's History of the Arkanar Massacre is in with a chance too.

Fingers crossed it is "History of the Arkanar Massacre", which has been re-named back to its original title "Hard to be a god" according to Alexei German's wishes. It would be a tremendous news. But since the film is not quite completed yet, I doubt it...

Another possibility might be Blind Detective by Johnnie To which might make for a nice companion piece with Mad Detective. Blind Detective is one of the Midnight Movie selections at the Croisette this year.

Another possibility could perhaps be Upstream Color? If not, the Johnnie To would be great. I loved Mad Detective, but haven't seen any of To's other works.

To's pretty hit and miss for me, but most of his films at least have that strange leaness of Mad Detective so loving that film means that at least for his action stuff you're likely to love most of his work.

Unlikely, as it's being press shown to UK critics this evening, which presumably means that it's opening several months before the end of the year.

UPSTREAM COLOR is with Metrodome in the UK (along with De Palma's PASSION).

Has Godard's Goodbye to Language 3D got a UK distributor yet? He's one of five directors currently in the MoC series who have a new film due out this year (To, K. Kurosawa, Dumont and Zhangke being the others).

Could the mystery title be Dan Sallitt's The Unspeakable Act? I understand that Cinema Guild recently acquired it in the US. Perhaps there could be a Sallitt box in the offing for 2014.

Yes, thread here. (I probably should have mentioned here when I split off the thread.)

Will this be the Blu-ray debut of the film?

Yes, an Italian release was announced but never materialized.

While we are at it, let's screw up the cover Tabu-style.

Not bad! Could do with some more translations, however. ;)

It needs to be a still of someone who's not actually one of the central characters though

There are some really great vintage, international and not so vintage poster images for Nosferatu out there so it should be possible to do a fantastic cover.

They already did, and they'd be advised to leave it alone.

Those with a digital Sight & Sound copy of the new issue might want a look at page 2 (the inside front cover)...
