So it's starting to sell out, and still not a single picture of the actual boxset packaging / book etc.

I received my box this morning and it looks great. A red box with eight original Japanese posters for the films. I'm just about to read through the booklet.
By the way, it's number 253 if anyone's counting.

I ordered from Eureka and got it today (number 232). They usually ship early.

Sheesh, it says something about the persuasive power of this board that I keep feeling the urge to buy this set despite not particularly liking Mizoguchi, not having a region B capable Blu-ray player, and already owning the DVD set of these films. Just on the off chance that years from now I find myself as a region free Blu-ray owning Mizoguchi devotee cursing the fact that my younger self wasn't as into this stuff.

I know the feeling. I'm not particularly liking Mizoguchi, either; but I felt the urge to order this set after reading this thread. However, upon some further considerations, I ended up cancelling my order. Although I think many of the films in this set are great, for some reason I don't find myself revisiting them. For example, I have not revisited Ugetsu and Sansho since the VHS days (although I've owned the Criterion and MoC of Sansho). The thing that really got me to cancel the order was watching Street of Shame again. This used to be my favorite Mizoguchi film. However, this time around I was just not taken by it. So, maybe my younger self liked Mizoguchi better than my current self ? I hope I don't live to regret cancelling that order.

Apologies for this, we have a small amount without numbers for ourselves.
I knew one had slipped through the net without a number on it, and now I've found it. Email me: kevin at eurekavideo dot co dot uk and I'll get you an new one sorted. Please include your forum user name and a picture of the back. Thanks.

I'd keep the unnumbered "for Eureka staff only, but one slipped through by mistake" copy—a true rarity.

I got an e-mail from Amazon that "the manufacturer has changed the supply date of this product from 28 October to 1 November". The item is clearly being shipped by MoC as many members have indicated they got it. Is there a selective supply policy on part of MoC? I normally would not care, but for a limited edition item this is quite unacceptable. I am sure I ordered this item the first day it was posted on Amazon.

There was a slight delay, so even though Eureka got the direct orders out on time, it will take a little longer to get to retailers and then to you. The email you received from Amazon, if it's the same one I got, also says that pre-orders are fulfilled in order of purchase date, so it you ordered the day it became available on Amazon I don't think you'll have anything to worry about.

I switched my order to eureka direct today to ensure I get one, will cancel my amazon order when the eureka ships. I didnt place the amazon order until later.

The one problem you're going to have with approach is that Eureka do not notify when they ship. I'm a gambling man, so I ordered on Amazon, as I had some other stuff I wanted anyway. We'll see what happens.

Well if Eureka ends up being sold out they'll likely notify me soon right?

At any rate, ending up with two copies of this will only hurt until you double your money selling one of them off in six months' time.

I ordered from amazon because I was getting few other MoC and BFI BDs. I got the similar email from amazon this morning and contacted the customer service just to know what's gonna happen. One guy replied me back saying that the item is not in stock yet, but probably gonna be in due time and there should not be any delay in shipping. My expected delivery date is "Monday 4 Nov 2013 - Friday 8 Nov 2013". [-o<

See, I wonder if this is really going to be the blockbuster this forum expects it to be. I was all anxious to get in my Joan of Arc steelbook order, but that "limited edition" is still hanging about.

In Mizoguchi's favour, we know that this limited edition really is limited, and really is selling out (unless MoC is lying to us), and that previous OOP MoCs have skyrocketed in value, despite being limited only by the ignorance of the general DVD-buying public, and that these are films that people will be wanting to own in the best format for years and years to come, so demand will only increase over time. The value of the release is not entirely tied down to its limited status, as it is with releases such as Twilight Time's The Fury, which is already available in a cheaper, better rival edition. There's a very strong chance that most of these films will never be released on BluRay again.

This played heavily into my decision to purchase this. I'm not region free yet but I love Mizoguchi. At some point I will be region free and I want these to be available.

Ditto here, but with a different caveat. I'm not that big of a Mizoguchi fan (I've seen Sansho and Ugetsu once, and liked them both, but have never revisited. I also own the Eclipse set, but didn't really love those films). With that said, should I ever realize his greatness, I'll want to have this set handy.
