I hope it's Daddy Longlegs (the original title was Go Get Some Rosemary). I had no clue why Criterion passed on that IFC title as it was not only one of their best acquisitions, but one of the few films released by IFC where "independent" actually meant something. Considering Craig Keller from MoC seems to be involved in the new independent filmmaker scene, I wouldn't be surprised if that was it. MoC is already releasing Computer Chess, after all.

I sure hope it isn't Go Get Some Rosemary. What a shitty, shitty film that was. A "me so wacky" cot-case solo dad that the film is inexplicably ga-ga over indifferently enacts every indie film cliche he (and you) can think of. A Bataan Death March of drab quirk.

I have been repulsed by the few Safdie Bros. films I've seen, so I agree with zedz.

Somewhat surprisingly given my intolerance for Mumblecore I enjoyed the wonderfully plotless first twenty minutes or so of the Pleasure of Being Robbed and tolerated the rest

A Blu-ray release by MoC of any of the following films would be really nice:

- Maborosi
- Claude Sautet's Les Choses de La Vie, Un Coeur en Hiver, and Nelly et Mr. Arnaud
- The Docks of New York

Have there been any rumors about Masters of Cinema releasing The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari? I watched it last night for the first time, what a great film.

Yes, based on a restoration that debuts next year.

Is there any chance that MoC will release any von Stroheim films on Blu-ray? I'm captivated by the idea of owning Kino's Foolish Wives, for instance, but it wouldn't be the first time that MoC laid the smack-down on a Kino title with a superior release.

And for that matter, what of Buster Keaton?

If Birth of a Nation sells reasonably well, MoC could conceivably get Intolerance and save us all a fortune on the Cohen BD (unless Park Circus or the BFI have the rights already).

Cohen's restoration of The General would be nice too, as there isn't an existing UK Blu-Ray release.

Not likely

I asked Cohen via Twitter if they were releasing The General on blu ray.
They said,
The General home video rights for now are with @KinoLorber. You can see our restoration in special screenings around the US.
I wonder how long Kino has them for.

I'll ask Cohen if they have the international rights and if so, would they consider licensing them? I doubt I'll get an answer.

Really hoping the materials are now in order for Blus of Intentions of Murder and The Pornographers w/ Endless Desire and My Second Brother backing them up respectively and/or Eijanaika and Zegen Blus.

Other wise any Oshima, Yoshida and any other ATG stuff would be great.

Was anyone else lucky enough to catch Matsumoto's Pandemonium during the NFT's ATG season a couple of years back? It's a superb film and very different to Funeral Parade of Roses. It would make a great MOC, hopefully with some Matsumoto shorts thrown in.

Wonder why neither Criterion nor MoC has released (or even mentioned the possibility of releasing some time in the future) Naruse's "Wife, Be Like a Rose!" - are the materials in such a bad shape? Anyway, it would be great news if this was among the upcoming announcements.

I think the odds of seeing any more Naruse releases from anyone in the next decade or so is close to zero. None of the releases in the US or the UK would seem to have sold well enough to encourage further releases. It breaks my heart, but I can't see any reason to be optimistic.

Hulu+ boasts a number of Naruse's films among their catalog under the Criterion banner. I hope they get physical releases some day. Same goes for the 40+ Kinoshita titles they have knocking around there.

It depends on how many copies need to be sold to reach the break even point and perhaps make a small profit, too. Going the limited numbered edition route might be helpful, if one considers the craze created here, with people buying the Mizoguchi set although they don't even seem to like Mizoguchi. There are some collectors who buy almost anything if it's limited... even Naruse.

Now that we've got confirmation of Computer Chess for January 20th, Wake In Fight may well be the other title for that month. The Rocket is presumably getting a theatrical release first so that's more likely an early summer release.
Maybe we'll get Intolerance in February?

This will be a Eureka release, not MoC.

Upcoming releases for 2014 are up on twitter.

Wings will save me importing the US Blu-ray, but the Fellini and Rosi Blu-ray world firsts are what I'm excited for.

Very nice of them to give everyone a heads up on "Nashville" far in advance, and especially just before the Criterion being released.
