I'm new to purchasing MoC blu-rays, and I'm curious about the likelihood of them upgrading The 1000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse in the near future and re-releasing all 3 films in a.box set like they did for the dvds. I guess I'm really just wondering whether I should buy the first two films or wait for the possibility of a boxset. I really do want them. Has there been any news or hints about either an upgrade of The 1000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse or a blu box set? Thanks.

I've not seen any news of them upgrading the final film, and the upgrade of Mabuse, The Gambler was pretty unexpected I'd say. When Testament was blu-rayed, they said there was no plans at that point to upgrade the other films. But then the first one got the treatment.

When das Testament was announced, there were no HD masters available for the other two. Der Spieler upgrade was indeed unexpected as was Nosferatu. For years, there were no news regarding a potential HD remaster, one day it just happened. Maybe FWMS will remaster the third Mabuse film as well, who knows.

That's not true about Nosferatu being unexpected. Kino mentioned on their FB page more than a year before it's release that it was being worked on for an upgrade.

Doubt it. FWMS was only interested in German silent/early sound films, wasn't it?

I wouldn't hold your breath. I believe the source for the AllDayEntertainment and MoC DVD was David Kalat's own print. The other US disc is just a bootleg.

Short window: Ted Tetzlaff's great 1949 kiddie noir
The Window - only 73 minutes!
Long window: no idea.

Long window might be the Gordon Willis 1980 film Windows.
I'd love to have that on blu ray though I am probably about the only person on the planet that does.

Well what's the longest window of them all? The Big Sky, of course!

I did check that one out, but it's only 96 minutes, which I don't think could reasonably be characterized as 'long'. Of course, the clue might have nothing to do with titles. Or windows.

I assumed they meant the first announcement wouldn't cover a whole quarter, like they usually do.

Looking through some of the recent restorations that the CNC
have funded, there are a number of films that I'd love to see MoC release, such as:
Une femme douce (Robert Bresson)
Duelle (Jacques Rivette)
Noroit (Jacques Rivette)
Merry-Go-Round (Jacques Rivette)
L'Inhumaine (Marcel L'Herbier)
The Hypothesis of the Stolen Painting (Raul Ruiz)
Three Crowns of the Sailor (Raul Ruiz)

Not a cat in hell's chance of them making the MoC catalogue but good to see Patrick Bokanowski's stuff on the list.
You listening Arrow?

Can speculation begin that maybe MoC will release Wilder's A Witness for the Prosecution, now that we know Kino is releasing in the states. Could be one of the MGM/UA titles picked by MoC and this would be a no brainer. Plus, it would be another Laughton.

That and/or Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (also just announced by Kino) wouldn't surprise me at all.
