Jafar Panahi takes only one film. (Not because Lav Diaz took all the rest.)

Rampant consumerism is not his strong suit...somebody needs to explain to him the meaning of an "epic haul".

He was actually in NYC last year to promote his latest film. Reviews were a little mixed and it's not among his best, but I thought it was fine and had enough going for it that I was pleased to see something new from him in theaters again. I know he's made plenty more and they likely played somewhere in NYC, but the attention they get is in start contrast to what I remember as a teenager growing up in the Midwest, when I was able to catch at least one of his films at a local mall.

Best CC visit imo, but I'm also very partial to him (Exotica would be my pick from the closet)!

I love some of Egoyan's movies, but that Wim Wenders check story went absolutely nowhere. I saw him talk somewhere once, and he had the same nervous kindly-Tarantino energy.

It didnt, he said it helped his film be more seen (and the check helped his next feature)

Jodie Foster. I need to see her this infectiously exuberant in something other than this closet.

I read a rumor about Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore potentially coming from Criterion. So, is a Scorsese box set in the making? Would be super sweet!

I doubt it. It would be a pretty patchy set since many labels have already released their own 4K discs of his most popular films: Sony and Taxi Driver, Universal and Casino, Warner Bros. and GoodFellas. And then there are the films that still require restoration like New York, New York and The Color of Money.

It got a steelbook standalone release but it looks like that might have gone OOP?

How is the Goodfellas 4K? Is it reference quality? I thought I remember hearing not too great things about it and held off from buying it.

It's actually a pretty solid disc and a decent upgrade over the remastered bd. I know a lot of people thought it was too dark back in the day but it looks great on more modern TVs.

Wild At Heart has been heavily rumored to be coming soon so I wouldn't be surprised if she was there for an interview.
