Jafar Panahi takes only one film. (Not because Lav Diaz took all the rest.)
Rampant consumerism is not his strong suit...somebody needs to explain to him the meaning of an "epic haul".brundlefly wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 8:52 pm Jafar Panahi takes only one film. (Not because Lav Diaz took all the rest.)
Jean-Marc Vallée?
I love some of Egoyan's movies, but that Wim Wenders check story went absolutely nowhere. I saw him talk somewhere once, and he had the same nervous kindly-Tarantino energy.dda1996a wrote: Wed Jan 21, 2026 4:37 pm Best CC visit imo, but I'm also very partial to him (Exotica would be my pick from the closet)!
Taxi Driver UHD?brundlefly wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 7:23 pm Jodie Foster. I need to see her this infectiously exuberant in something other than this closet.

I doubt it. It would be a pretty patchy set since many labels have already released their own 4K discs of his most popular films: Sony and Taxi Driver, Universal and Casino, Warner Bros. and GoodFellas. And then there are the films that still require restoration like New York, New York and The Color of Money.TBickle020776 wrote:I read a rumor about Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore potentially coming from Criterion. So, is a Scorsese box set in the making? Would be super sweet!
It got a steelbook standalone release but it looks like that might have gone OOP?FrauBlucher wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 8:49 pmI looked and couldn’t find it except for the one in the SONY box
How is the Goodfellas 4K? Is it reference quality? I thought I remember hearing not too great things about it and held off from buying it.Matt wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 8:51 pmI doubt it. It's actually a pretty solid disc and a decent upgrade over the remastered bd. I know a lot of people thought it was too dark back in the day but it looks great on more modern TVs.TBickle020776 wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 12:33 amHow is the Goodfellas 4K? Is it reference quality?
