Lovely, but isn't two decorative fonts side by side like that a basic graphic design no-no?

I wouldn't necessarily call the top font "decorative."

Decorative, stylized, etc. A minor quibble, though.

Yes. I made the same point when the cover image first showed up. I guess I can live with it, though.

Just put black electrical tape over the text on the cover

That "Josef...." picture is a tease. [-X If you already have the product in "your" hands, why does it take another month to get them to retailers? :x Don't take my ramblings to seriously...... i just want to complain about something. The set does look very nice..... if only the font....... But i can already see in the future a set in my hands, looking lovely.

so everyone who works there gets a copy of everything they put out? is that one of the perks? I'd take that in lieu of health insurance if they gave me a job!
Criterion says wrote:we get shipments in the office because we give copies to all the people who worked on them — writers, composers, designers, and Criterion staff, of course!

I'm glad that picture was posted. I was thinking for a while that a proper boxset of silent Sternberg's might have been something I just dreamt.

I really love the spine of the set...it's perfect. And for some reason the two fonts work perfectly - the exact opposite of my reaction to the boring Paths of Glory gradient treatment. It's all very pretty and I want it. now.

Ha! Just noticed the relation between the spine and Sternberg's coat.

I might have preferred a mustache motif, but the coat will do.

Criterion's first upskirt video confirms digipaks for the Sternberg set.

I had a horrible feeling for a moment there that the video was going to continue in the style of that Playstation 3 smashing stunt, as in front of sobbing Sternberg fans across the internet lighter fluid and a hammer gets produced and the lovingly assembled boxset gets methodically taken apart.

I went from really liking the SotG cover to not liking it in about .5 second.

Who knows? Are you familiar with the Seinfeld episode where Elaine, inadvertently steals a "Ziggy"? Maybe it went down like that? Intriguing, none the less.

Maybe Skillman has Hall & Oates bed sheets.
