The Todd-AO version of Oklahoma! is presented in 2.20:1 and 1080i at 30 fps (the Todd-AO norm).
Interesting

There's no other way to treat 30fps material. It's quite possible it's real progressive content merely flagged as 1080i though (I wonder if there is a sure way to confirm that from the disc?).

Any reason why they would leave State fair (1962) out? They still own the movie, right?

I've seen this last month and it is a nice upgrade, though bonus-less.

It's arguably Payne's most popular film in the U.S. Only The Descendants grossed a little bit more, and it needed an A-list star. Anyway, it did get a lot of love when it came out, I remember that, but I like it a lot less these days - I still think Election is hands down Payne's best film.

It's definitely his most, "oh I remember that," film selling for probably the same reason As Good as it Gets sells well.

What better way to commemorate a 10th anniversary than with an unnecessary new release adding little but a de rigueur cover of the "artificial-looking pic of actors against a white void" type?

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel? It makes you want to say "such a nice movie!" and pat it on the head, but it's certainly not on the level of other films in the collection.

As usual, surely the main criterion was commercial appeal which all those films had to a considerable extent.

Man, I didn't realize 12 Years a Slave grossed $187 million worldwide. Scary.

It did REALLY well here in the UK - close to £20 million or so which is very impressive. The first couple of months of the year have traditionally seen Oscar catch up time, and seems to be the favoured release period for older skewing films - but the success of this and Wolf of Wall Street (Scorsese's highest UK gross and the top 18 certificate film) caught most people by surprise.

The longer director's cut is actually a pretty good film. If only Fox would port the full version of their excellent 4-disc special edition DVD to Blu-ray.

It says it'll be a 2-disc set so that would appear to be the case. Scott's people have a good track record of making sure that most if not all his special editions find their way to Blu-ray.

Not yet for "Black Hawk Down"...

The "Kingdom Of Heaven" 4-disc set is still one of the best DVD sets I've seen. I remember the movie being great (only saw the longer cut) when I first watched it, but wasn't as memorable as many of his other films. I was also surprised that the "Gladiator" Blu-ray had even more extras than the DVDs had, "Kingdom Of Heaven" might be the same as well?

It doesn't retain everything from the 3-disc DVD, but I assume that's more of a rights issue because there were separate PBS and History Channel specials included. There were also some Q&A's that didn't show up but the Blu retains the commentaries and the long EPK that made up much of the 2nd DVD. It is probably due for an upgrade because it was one of the first Blu's Sony put out.

The big one that hasn't come out yet for me is Matchstick Men, which I'm surprised WB hasn't put out because it seems like everything else from around that time they've already upgraded.

Going back to Fox since this is a Fox thread, they are not in any hurry to upgrade to BD Ridley Scott's "A Good Year".
(I checked and was surprised with the amount of extras on the initial DVD release, considering no one saw the movie)

The Counselor has it's fair share of extras too. It even has 2 Blu-ray discs, which is indicative of the stroke he has with them.

I watched A Good Year on cable fairly recently, and thought it was a lot better than my initial perception was.

Ridley Scott's "A Good Year", Amazon France and Germany have a listing for it for February 2015.
