Yeah, that's what I thought. So I guess it's a rock or a hard place scenario -- either no free shipping or no full value on points?

Or there's something else coming out that interests you that isn't on sale. Maybe a Second Run title?

I'm thinking or preordering Alfredo Garcia, would that qualify me for free shipping with Dekalog?

Yes, though it probably won't ship until the later release streets.

End of December. There's usually some kind of Black Friday offer but there's no points bonuses or anything like that usually.

Is this the cheapest it's been (not counting points)?

I thought the Yoshida set was almost sold out. Why are these prices so ridiculously low?

I don't know, but I finally snapped this up--thanks for the tip, djvaso!

Much like the MoC Imamura set, it seems like this got to about 2500 out of 3000 sold relatively quickly and the market fell out for them and sales have grinded to a halt. It still made its money back by this point, but the allure of a limited edition is gone if it sticks around for over a full year afterwards so it's not surprising me to see it starting to be given a bit more of a hard sell.

Not to mention the fact that other box sets have come out since. I would've got Yoshida by now had The Human Condition and Dekalog not taken priority (and both were recently available at Zavvi for a very similar price).
I reckon Yoshida will be around for another 6 months or so. Then again, I thought that about the Imamura one and that's still knocking about.

Seeing as it is now only available from third parties at £100+, maybe it was Amazon just blowing out the remainder of their stock as they sometimes do. An absolute steal if you picked it up at that price!

Surprised no one has pointed out Arrow's
had a sale on the past day and going into Tuesday next week. It's mostly usual fare, some of the box sets are better prices than they've ever been, several titles at £5, but the crown jewel if you haven't picked it up would have to be the first Allen set for 33% off/£40, a bargain considering how recently it came out.

Yeah I got Knightriders in the above offer (feel like it might go OOP soon), but I'd highly recommend these for the same price if people are looking for something cheap: Retaliation, Ashes & Diamonds, Pit Stop, Miracle in Milan, Remo Williams, Spider Baby, Django Prepare a Coffin, The Visitor.
Pretty good prices for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and Audition SB too (£9.99 each), and I'm very tempted to get the Taviani set if I can afford it by the time this sale finishes.
By the way, the Yoshida set is £39.99 from Arrow (with double points back, so almost £8 worth) but is also back in stock at Amazon UK for £34.99 again (for those that missed it the first time). I'd love to get it but...Christmas is incoming (and besides, I'd rather get Taviani/Dekalog/The Human Condition).

I paid a lot more for Retaliation and Tenderness of the Wolves so this is definitely looking like one of the better sales. That Taviani box is a great bargain so anyone on the fence should take a chance. The commentary and video essay from Michael Brooke provide excellent context to their work. I felt more than prepared for the other two films afterwards.

The Holiday sale is on for the next month. Other than the 20 new Second Run titles I don't really see anything that I'm aware hasn't been on sale before. Still, it's nice to be able to order the final Allen set and I look forward to whatever Academy surprise we're getting announced in two hours' time.

It's always nice to be able to pre order stuff with double points but man, some of these discounts are ridiculously small. I'll have to check how much I paid for the Death Walks set but it probably is £32.99 meaning the sale is discounting it... by £2 !

Pretty sure this is the first appearance of Hangmen Also Die, The Ox-Bow Incident, and Waking Life. And those are some great deals on Second Run titles.

Fun discovery of the day: you can add infinite negative rewards points to an order, adding to the cost

I swear Waking Life was £9.99 in the previous sale. I saw a comment earlier suggesting they've put the prices up by £1 to ensure delivery before Christmas for UK customers. Dunno if there's any truth to that, but everything does seem to be a bit pricier than previous sales (only by a quid per item, but that adds up).
However, I will have to get at least one Second Run DVD, especially since I regret skipping the previous offer. I'm eyeing up The Sun in a Net, Independencia, Rat-Trap, Kinetta and Black Snow...any of those in particular I shouldn't hesitate to get?
I already have all the Thai titles Second Run have released. Everyone should already own them, or buy them for £6.99 each
right now.

Distribution, that's all.
I highly recommend Palms and The White Dove.

Shame that the Taviani Brothers set isn't included, given the release date & its appearance in the mini sale last month.
Don't hesitate on the reduced Second Run titles - Divorce Iranian Style & Runaway are both fascinating, if at times heartbreaking documentaries.
