Only tangentially film-related,
but nonetheless.

I would call that completely film related, that one. Jeremy's videos & installations were very much films in their own right, as was
the history of glamour, which
Duncan's blog linked to super happy fun for purchase (rights issues, I guess).
Terribly sad.

It's astounding how disheartening these past few days have been with all the deaths of people recognized for their brilliance within their chosen profession.

No confirmation yet, but Pip Chodorov just reported on Frameworks that Isidore Isou has also died.
This thread has been far too populated as of late.

The only thing that could top it off would be a 'Day the Music Died'-style plane crash involving several auteurs en route to a festival (a thought which is, of course, in poor taste).

Or if one of them dies in transit to the funeral of either Bergman or Antonioni, as Nathanael West actually did en route to F. Scott Fitzgerald's funeral.

The ride is rough at present.
Mr Lee Hazelwood, deep love and respect.
LEE HAZLEWOOD died peacefully at his home outside Las Vegas, USA, after a three year struggle with cancer. He celebrated his 78th birthday earlier this month surrounded by family and friends from around the world. He passed away on August 4th, 2007, in Henderson, Nevada, and is survived by his son Mark, his daughters Debbie and Samantha, and his devoted wife Jeane.

Spine-tinglingly I was listening to As Tears go by by Nancy Sinatra arranged by Lee when I read this.
Well, His Autumn's done come and gone then.
