Definitely? No. IFC does have the rights though, and I think that's it's reasonable to assume Criterion would like to release it and will get around to it eventually.

Wild Side is releasing a restored "Red River" soon ... March, I think. It has an new restored print, another cut of the film, an 80 page book, and more. So, what about the long rumoured Crit!? I want it now!

From an interview with PTA on Cigarettes & Red Vines:
You recently said that you’re working on the “Punch-Drunk Love” Blu-ray this year. Any plans for “Hard Eight” to follow (or precede) it and is there any chance of a Criterion release for either title?
We are trying to track down lots of elements regarding Hard Eight/Sydney. It would be ideal to get a tune up/re-transfer, etc on that sooner than later. Be great if Criterion would put it out but they haven't said anything to me about it.

LotF was on TCM last night too - and there always seems to be a correlation between them airing Criterion properties prior to an announcement. I almost wonder if they have some kind of agreement to generate a bit of exposure for a particular film.

He seems to be avoiding the question of whether Criterion might be handling the
Punch-Drunk Love disc.

Here's something that may be of interest. Criterion posted on their Facebook page today a feature from
Christopher Nolan, where he listed his ten favorite Criterion titles. Well, his tenth choice was an interesting one...
Christopher Nolan wrote:Which brings me to Greed, von Stroheim’s lost work of absolute genius. Which is not available on Criterion. Yet. Here’s hoping.
Uhm, is it just me, or is this basically evidence that Criterion will be releasing this WB title?

From the email (emphasis mine):
The Following and Inception director picks his favorite Criterion titles (plus one he wishes were available from Criterion), including masterpieces from Lang, Malick, and Welles.

Considering how close things are kept to the chest, and the rarity with which WB licenses films to Criterion, I'd say while not impossible this certainly doesn't count as evidence.

I'm sure Nolan could pull a few strings at Warner if he really wanted to...

I feel like this is Criterion's hint of letting us know they will be releasing this film. I highly doubt this would have occurred otherwise. For example, why would Nolan have chosen Greed, and not countless other films? And why would he have so optimistically have hoped for it to join the collection? Doesn't seem like a coincidence to me.
Is Greed technically considered a pre-code film, or no? If so, maybe this is that film that was hinted at during the Wexner chat.

I dunno, maybe because he really likes
Greed? Occam's razor.
Do you also think that
Rian Johnson's mention of The Trial in his top 10 is a hint from Criterion as well?

I see what you're getting at, and if your question wasn't rhetorical, then I don't expect for a Criterion release of The Trial anytime soon. But, do take into consideration that Nolan gave an entire spot of his top 10 to a film that Criterion hasn't even released yet. I don't know, seems odd to me.

It seems odd to me that anyone would read that much into an off-the-cuff celebrity top 10 list.

I was actually thinking that it's frustratingly commonplace around here, sadly not odd at all.

I wonder if they're doing a whole box set of the "Early Works of Errol Morris." All of the stuff previously released by MGM (Thin Blue Line; Vernon, Florida; Gates of Heaven; "First Person") is out of print. A Brief History of Time on its own would not be much of a draw. It's been ages since I've seen it, but I remember it being a much lesser film than the ones before it.

I think this is another Film Four license. So far that makes
Shallow Grave and the re-licenses of
Naked and
An Angel at My Table plus the upcoming
Life is Sweet.

God, I hope ANGEL (1982) and RITA, SUE & BOB, TOO are in the pipeline...
