HistoryProf wrote:My one guess is Picnic at Hanging Rock blu due to the strange posting of the trailer on their fb page.
That posting coincided with a Peter Weir retrospective playing somewhere or something.

Howzabout Le notti bianche, with that beautiful snowy canal at the end?

Le Cercle Rouge
Kiss Me Deadly
The Terrorizer
Kuroneko

Personally I want the Gorin set delayed until even eclipse sets are released on blu-ray as default.

Has Kuroneko received a theatrical tour yet? If not, we can forget about this until late 2011 or early 2012.

A "The Complete Films Directed by Kinuyo Tanaka" Eclipse box is a good idea. Fits right among the other Japanese films Eclipse boxes. A famous Japanese actress directing films... sounds like a good addition to the DVD repertoire of of both female film directors and famous Japanese actresses (cf. "Noriko trilogy" - Setsuko Hara). The first film is written by Yasujiro Ozu and stars Chishu Ryu.

A few months ago, I would've never guessed a Kinuyo Tanaka director's set, with those films being unreleased on DVD in native Japan. But with the stops Criterion pulled with the Silent Naruse set, I won't be surprised anymore... Although I'm guessing that if they are putting out an Eclipse set for the next announcement, I'd think it won't be a Japanese release.... Although I am still still hoping for more Kurosawa BDs... Madadayo or Rashomon.... still.

The next Melville in my opinion should be LEON MORIN--- if it's at all possible (and not owned by SC).

"Leon Morin" is, indeed, Studio Canal.

What happened with their plans for A Man Escaped? A couple of years ago it seemed like a certainty, but since recently it's not being mentioned either on this Forum or anywhere else...

Its stunning to me that people are going to purchase this film for the potentially fourth time (and I'm being charitable and not counting a VHS purchase).
