Isn't Brand upon the Brain technically a silent, or at least as silent as Modern Times. Maybe they think silent means old and with little talking?

Then, I suppose "M" is a 'silent' film?

I don't think there's anything on there as glaringly odd as putting The Harder They Come in their American Independent Cinema list

And for some reason they didn't include the silent film extras in Stagecoach or Trouble in Paradise.

The oddest one I'm seeing is first films. Hiroshima, Mon Amour isn't even his earliest film with a spine, and if they're going by features than the Akermann is misplaced.

Wound up being a runner-up in that caption contest (Darjeeling Limited: "East Meets Wes"). It might have been a silly contest, but I ain't complaining about a gift certificate.

Perhaps having the Auteurs forum links wasn't that bad after all.
I hate change

Seems like some pretty minor changes to me, and the ones that were made make it easier to navigate.

I also posted this in the bargains thread, but Days of Heaven and Thin Red Line are 50% off right now with the code NATURE at Criterion's website, good through 5/22 or until they run out.

So my order from their facebook-related 50% off sale a few months ago showed up today, but I was forced to pay a $20.15 COD charge at the door. This was on top of the $35.75 I had already in shipping and handling for this order already. This has never happened on any Criterion.com order I've placed before, so I just sent them a pretty angry e-mail. Has anyone else in Canada encountered this?

I think everything ships from Louisville, KY (their fulfillment center), but it wouldn't hurt to call their offices tomorrow.

Interesting how Criterion is cutting out the middleman by posting their own packaging shots and screen captures.

As dull as the Three Colors packaging is, that last booklet shot of the Red production is gorgeous.

Hopefully they don't feel the need to cut out our middle man.

I have to say, the packaging has really grown on me.

I like it better than I did upon first reveal, but I'm still ho-hum overall. I may come to the other side once I have it in hand, though.

Just a heads up that the site's front page is now mildly NSFW, unless your job entails showing Catherine Deneuve what she used to look like wearing lingerie in her prime.

It is also now NSF your life, with random comments from people's "My Criterion" pages littering the bottom of the page. The horror!

"Perhaps Anderson's most dry film (that being an incredibly compliment). Humor doesn't take a back seat, but sits in the passenger while drama drives."
This makes me want to stab things
