It's a shame that the idiot producers at helm of this award show still don't understand that we want to see the original performers of the nominated songs perform. We didn't want Beyonce singing all the songs and certainly didn't want Enchanted almost replaying the movie in last's year broadcast. Why now is it that they would not let Peter Gabriel and the rest of the performers do their entire piece. Imbeciles.

How depressing that such a flashy, empty director like Boyle is a shoo-in.

The flash isn't always empty. It mostly was this time though. Trust the Academy to reward him for it. Oh well.

Foreign Film Oscars have often gone to unknown quantities, but I'd be surprised if that happens this year.

The list is correct on the 6 major awards. Looking over the remainder just convinced me that I don't need to watch the show. ](*,)

I'm pretty sure Mickey Rourke just gave the best speech in award show history at the Independent Spirits.

Paul Schrader apparently was never even nominated by the Academy... wow.
