So it might be wise to pick up the current Fox Blu-ray.
It's a Fox title and one of the greatest films ever, so quite wise to pick it up regardless

May be wiser to pick up the original DVD (without the missing audio cue) and eventually supplement it with the release of the director's cut

Paper Moon is currently on TCM. Was there a rumor that it was going to get released by CC?

I don’t see any reason to assume there will be any further titles from Paramount for the time being. Paramount I believe did explicitly confirm a release is coming in the US soon in some capacity but I think most people are assuming it will be through their presents line.

Ah yes, Paramount. Any previous rumors are now moot. The best we can hope for is that Criterion doesn't lose anymore of their existing Paramount titles

It feels like we're starting over (and Paramount will never release Starting Over..)

Not really; in addition to the DTS-HDMA 5.1 track, which is missing the music cue, the Blu-ray also includes the same Dolby Digital 4.0 track that the DVD had, and the music cue is present on that track. So the Blu-ray still includes everything the DVD had, with the HD video.

Thank you PfR73 for the intel! I just tested my region A blu and can confirm the second English audio track has the music cue- I hope Sloper is reading this

-I wonder if Criterion is holding off on releasing Atlantics for when they release 35 Shots of Rum. Something very CC to do
- KL Insider said Disney does't want to do anymore deals with with their 20th Century Fox films. I wonder if that's double for Criterion
- I would think if Citizen Kane or Citizen Kane in UHD coming we will get a preannouncement announcement next week or at least a strong hint

There’s a part of me that thinks that Kane 4K could potentially be in some level of Welles box, in which case they’d almost definitely announce on the 10th. I don’t know for sure though.

35 Shots of Rum is still with Cinema Guild and
they plan to release it on Blu-ray this year.
As for Fox deals, who knows,
but some titles appear to have been licensed post take over.
I'm fully expecting some announcement either Tuesday or Thursday. If it is a UHD, I hope Criterion does what they did when they announced they were going to start releasing Blu-rays and give a short list of future UHDs.

My bad, I thought someone said they saw it and it opened with a Janus logo

My source that initially told me
Citizen Kane, as well as
Journey into Fear along with the prior release of
The Magnificent Ambersons which the person also knew about that were coming to Criterion, didn't mention anything about a boxset. It doesn't mean a box isn't coming down the road but the likelihood is a standalone release especially if it's a UHD release

To jump on the Welles rumors, didn’t one of the directors of It’s All True said Criterion was going to put that out as well?

I believe it was Beau Travail and Chocolat that opened with the Janus logo during the Denis retro in NYC a few years ago

Don’t know what degree this has been talked about, but De Seta’s The Age of the Sword Fish is currently playing on lecinemaclub from Criterion. The info they put out suggests at minimum Criterion have ten shorts. To get to the speculation portion since they’re promoting the films through an outside service that suggests to me a physical release sooner than later.

I got the impression that it's just a streaming service crossover - Le Cinema Club has 9 shorts on Criterion Channel right now, Le Cinema Club gets to stream a Janus licensed film this week with maybe more in coming weeks.

My guess is WB releases Kane on UHD and Criterion receives permission to release it as part of a Welles box (Ambersons and The Other Side of the Wind also go UHD). Might be wishful thinking.

Doesn't Criterion have The Trial too? I doubt they'd release a Welles box with only some UHD titles, some blu-only new titles in the collection, etc. nor do I think they'll upgrade all the Welles titles to UHD

Do you have a recent source for that, by chance? It's been listed on the "StudioCanal licenses that Criterion likely has" column for a couple years and people have been guessing it consistently in the monthly guess thread based on that, while a cursory search on the forum doesn't indicate any news about Milestone now having it, though it's possible there have been updates elsewhere on the internet I'm not aware of..

I started reading this forum over ten years ago and it seemed like at that point people were already five years past having given up hope of a "Welles at RKO" Box. If The Immortal Story gets a standalone release, hard to see any of his films getting boxed.

Kino Lorber Insider has stated that they tried getting it but Studiocanal licensed 'The Trial' to a different label, and to the best of my knowledge, I don't think I've seen Milestone release any StudioCanal titles. This to me makes Criterion the label that is most likely going to release this.
