Is the Stanley Kramer Collection worthwhile?

Does it have The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T or (if you're into that kind of thing) It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World? If the answer is no than it's not worth it.

It has Dr T and some other decent films he only produced. I own it, and I hate Stanley Kramer, if that helps

I think the Bond films are just going on moratorium in anticipation of the next Bond movie, at which point they'll be reissued (likely the same transfers and bonus features).

I should watch the Bond films one of these days though I didn't particularly like the one film of the series I have seen.

I think one would have to be completely dead inside to not like at least one of the Bond films. But that's just how I feel on the subject.

I've seen almost all of them, mainly because TBS or TNT used to broadcast them ad nauseum. The first three are still the best, when the franchise really rested on Connery's shoulders and before everything became too ludicrous. Criterion even licensed the same three films for LaserDisc release back in the '90s - you can read the accompanying essay on their website.

This coming year is the 50th anniversary of Dr. No and the Bond films, I wouldn't be surprised if that will result in some sort of larger mega-reissue campaign; I've heard of at least one institution planning an anniversary celebration.

I have the Laserlight edition of
Jamaica Inn, which I've recently learned is cut. Does anyone know if the Kino is an improvement? I'm a bit of a Hitchcock completist so I'd like to have the best version available even though it's one of his lesser films.

Stick with your Laserlight. The Kino has the footage, but it looks awful. Plus, it has no extras. The comparison is
here.

The UK R2
Carlton DVD is complete (almost 95 minutes with PAL speed-up) and sourced from what appears to be a nice 35mm print (not fully cleaned-up). The only slight drawback I'm aware of is that it's a Raymond Rohauer print so has his copyright notice plastered over the main title (and a couple of new titles in front of it).
More info

There's no point buying any of the Hitchcock silents right now, what with the BFI restorations being unveiled over the next year. I don't know about DVD/Blu-ray plans, but I suspect they're very much on the cards - especially since they'll have 2K digital masters immediately to hand.

Wow, hopefully they're just reissuing it without the aluminum case, it would be pretty sad if they only kept it out for a few months. I mean, I have it already, but still.

That must be why it's going OOP.
