It's the Disney Nausicaa disc that has the dub credits. The old SC disc was always the Japanese credits.

Oops, I should have checked again. Yes, the older UK disc has Japanese only....

"When Marnie Was There", Blu-ray and DVD, March 18th 2005 in Japan
Quite a quick one, as usually Ghibli releases their movies 1 year after theatrical release, but this one comes only half a year later.
English subs are available, but no English dub.

The North American BD release of Kaguya will apparently include the 82 minute made-for-TV documentary "Isao Takahata and his Tale of Princess Kaguya" as an extra. Does the Japanese release have this as well?

Nope, so the US release is the one to go for.

It's a separate release in Japan. And it will be released separately in the US on iTunes, etc., but we are bundling it with the Bluray for at least the first run. Kaguya BD will have all the other extras of the Japanese release, except the storyboard stills. Subtitles, dubtitles, and dub + original Japanese open/end credits.

"Isao Takahata and his Tale of Princess Kaguya" is not available in Japan on blu or DVD.

There is this:

It is a 3.5 hour documentary on the production of the film, a different documentary.

Does anyone have the Disney's BD release of Pom Poko yet? Does it also suffer from dubtitles?

This reviewer seems to suggest that the 86 minute documentary extra is an edited version of presumably the 3.5 hour documentary you posted above.

It most likely is, the same way there has been a 60 min making of Princess Mononoke edited from 6hr40 documentary.

Does anyone know if Disney's Tales from Earthsea bluray has dubtitles?

From the DVDactive review of Earthsea:
There are some differences between the English language dialogue and subtitle track, but the content is really close. I’ll leave the dubtitle diagnosis up to the experts in this case.

Has anyone compared the Japanese and US BDs of Princess Kaguya? Any indications that one is superior in terms of pic/sound/subtitles?

The US release of "Princess Kaguya" has both the English and Japanese credit sequences and English subtitles both literal and captions.
As for picture quality, I assume they are identical, straight from the digital source.

Soundwise, the 5.1 Japanese tracks should be identical as well.

Disney US has announced "Spirited Away" and "The Cat Returns" blu-rays for June 2015.

"Ocean Waves" will be on blu-ray in Japan in July 2015, along with some pre-Ghibli titles "Gauche the Cellist", "Sherlock Hound: The Movie", "Chie the Brat", and the 2 "Panda Go Panda" films.

Do StudioCanal's Blu-ray releases suffer from the same dubtitle issue that many of Disney's do?

No, they don't. The Studio Canal discs are literal translation subtitles only.

Has anyone ever heard a rationale for Disney's abandonment of actual subtitles on most of its newer Ghibli releases in the US?

I think it's just laziness. Disney has a very minimalist home video presence nowadays, which is a far cry from their huge operation in the heyday of DVD ten years ago.

Will the Panda films have the English dub? The Panda's voice is a delight. The second film is pretty bad, but interesting as a dry run for the latter half of Ponyo. In general, with kids, I've been watching all Ghibli's dubbed, and considering what passed for anime dubs in the past, we live in a golden age. I particularly like Ponyo, Cat Returns and Kiki...without the final line, of course. I don't know if I'll ever go back to subs for these films.
