Peter Sarsgaard on Carey Mulligan: "We are lucky she's so young and we have her whole career to look forward to." I think he just told her, "You're not gonna win, hun, but you've got years ahead of you, unlike three of the broads in this category."

Jesus H. Christ, I hate Oprah. I can't believe it's come to the point where I'll be relieved at seeing Bullock win.

Isn't it a foregone conclusion that every movie with an older guy having an affair with a younger woman ends with it being found out that he's married? An old Hollywood buff like you should know that better than anyone else.

Meryl Streep seems like she's become a walking inside joke. It's kind of awesome.

So true. She'll be back, maybe even as soon as next year for Never Let Me Go. Next year. Focus positive energy on next year's Oscars. Anything to not think about this year's Oscars!

Remember an old Saturday Night Live short where David Spade got a tattoo from Sean Penn? (This was the year Babe came out).
Spade - Hey, did you see that talking pig movie?
Sean Penn, cigarette in mouth, grunts.
Spade - You didn't see The Net?
Penn - (half chuckle) Oh,hohohohoooo...

Don't relax yet, everyone - this could be another Ang Lee/Crash situation.

It's definitely between Hurt Locker and Precious, but I'm leaning back away from the reparations candidate after it failed to coast to a Best Actress upset
