When did Paxton become Spencer Tracy?
I could see some one like Herron doing at the very least justice to the novel if not turning it into a great movie. The film as is suffers mostly from sluggishness. At the end of thing I thought it was two and half hours, not 1.66. The acting was, apart from the distracting Hudson, really good and carried the film where Winterbottom seemed unable to. The final section is the only place where he seemed in command.
I really don't understand all of the Koteas hooppla since he's barely in the movie and doesn't get the chance to leave an impression.
By the way, has anyone seen the '76 version and is it any good?

I was at the store this morning buying The Thin Red Line, and they had this on Blu-Ray from E1 Entertainment. When I picked it up, however, I noticed the specs stated 1080i. Does anyone know if this is just the case for the Canadian edition, or if the US blu-ray is 1080i as well?

I'm sure it's just the Canadian edition that is 1080i (many, if not all, of Alliance and Mongrel Media's blu-rays are also 1080i, not to mention single-layer). One of the worst things about living in Canada.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. It's only really the exclusive Alliance titles that tend to be 1080i, and it's probably only about half of those. I've never seen a Mongrel blu-ray that wasn't 1080p, nor E1, which is who released The Killer Inside Me.Fierias wrote:I'm sure it's just the Canadian edition that is 1080i (many, if not all, of Alliance and Mongrel Media's blu-rays are also 1080i, not to mention single-layer). But hey, if the worst part of living in a country are your Blu-Ray options, I'd say you're not doing too badly.

At the risk of straying off-topic, we'll take your Canadian health care system if you'll give us your 1080i Blu-rays.Fierias wrote:I'm sure it's just the Canadian edition that is 1080i (many, if not all, of Alliance and Mongrel Media's blu-rays are also 1080i, not to mention single-layer).
