Oh, I don't know. As incredibly funny as Ron and that montage of drunks were, I still laughed harder when Ron improvised pulling out his own tooth in the middle of a meeting.
God bless Ron Swanson. He's the best thing on TV right now.

Jean-Ralphio should be in every episode. Of every show on TV.

He needs to be a regular. Along with Ron Swanson, he might be my favorite character.

I agree with mfunk. Any more than we 've seen of him and he'd be the most obnoxious of the lot by far.

Saw the screencaps for Sleeping With The Enemy on DVDBeaver, and thought how the movie would've been, if Ron Swanson had been the husband...

Thank God this show is just as funny and amazing as it's ever been! They even managed to turn what could have been a disaster, an episode-long commercial for the Parks and Rec book, into a hilarious and perfectly logical part of the series

I liked the episode a lot, but I really hope it's the last time there's a "ripped from the headlines" type of plot. It tends to come off way too overcooked, particularly this time.

Ha! So before becoming parks director in Pawnee, Ron Swanson was mayor of Metro City? With his hands off, libertarian approach, no wonder the city descended into crime!

Mr Sausage wrote:I've been watching the seasons backwards, and I'm shocked at how weak season one is. Granted, it's only six episodes long, but in hindsight it's all missteps. Most of the funny characters aren't given anything funny to do (Ron's basically a straight man, which should be impossible), and the show tries to force Leslie into being a slightly less awful version of Michael Scott. It's painful to watch the show embarrass her and load her with a level of failure and incompetence that her work ethic and dedication plainly don't deserve. Again, this is partly due to hindsight, but it still apparent that the show was struggling under the shadow of The Office, and I'm glad it came out from under it during the fantastic season 2.
I gave up after the first 4 episodes of Season 1--but it seems that there's considerable value in marching on. Sausage's assessment sums up why I bailed. Watching this back to back with The Office (making my way through Season 5--I came late) I just felt P&R felt derivative.
