Well, one must note that film isn't done shooting. So that hardly encompasses the whole film. It does leave me worried that, once again, Tarantino won't be able to do a full chemical process. It's my understanding he hates using a digital intermediate, but he's been stuck with it since Kill Bill since he constantly adopts these rushed production cycles.

Just to note, this will be playing before Prometheus if anyone wants to wait to catch it on the big screen.

People seemed to really love the footage that was shown at Cannes, so I'm on the side of it prob just being the trailer (as I agree that the trailer does make it look very pedestrian, almost doesn't have that Tarantino kick that even if you were living under a rock would spot in a second.).

Although his role is probably just a cameo it was delightful to see Franco Nero in the trailer!

Ghastly. Why not just watch a good spaghetti from the 60s/70s.

What kind of an argument is that? There's not room for another spaghetti western in the world?

Just saw the trailer and I have to say that I'm shocked.

I don't know why I'm shocked, I've come to expect the unexpected from him, especially after seeing the trailer for Inglorious Basterds (and the subsequent film) and being absolutely blown away by how he could manage to make such a 'Tarantino' feeling picture out of the subject matter of WWII. This film looks like a mix of Blaxploitation and Spaghetti Western, that somehow when merged together ooze that trademark Tarantino style.

I can't see this topping Inglorious Basterds, but I can't wait to see this film... Then again I never thought Inglorious Basterds would top pulp fiction for me, but I can honestly say after the 10+ viewings of Inglorious that I've undertaken since it came out that it is my favourite Tarantino and most definitely his masterpiece.

Either way, really anticipating this release

Presumably Tarantino is riffing off films like this one, which I cannot say the title of for obvious reasons!

Boss Nigger's actually a really good film despite the title, though I have a soft spot for Jack Arnold. The trailer reminds me more of a comedic The Great Silence though.

Classy move honoring the other commitment, but cancelled it out by deciding to go to the papers about his perception of how Django was going. No wonder PTA makes supporting actors sign confidentiality agreements.

There are rumors floating around some of the film blogs (InContention, Bleeding Cool, etc.) that Tarantino screened his cut of Django Unchained for execs at the Weinstein company about two weeks back and that the film clocked in at 3h12. Apparently Harvey wasn't very happy with the running time and is insisting on a new shorter edit. There's some speculation that Tarantino is contractually obligated to bring the film in under a certain running time, so he may be forced to cut a significant amount of material.

How the hell does a director of Tarantino's stature not have Final Cut and say on the running time? Especially considering his close ties to the Weinstein's. Hell even James Cameron was able to release a 3 hr plus movie in spite of the negative press, inflated budget and other issues on the Titanic set.

I was under the impression that Tarantino had always welcomed the Weinsteins into the editing process. Even when they agreed to break up Kill Bill into two films, they never officially gave Tarantino final cut. According to Harvey Weinstein, the only time they've ever given any director final cut, in writing, was last year for The Artist, and in that case, we're still talking about a film that was already finished before their involvement and looking for U.S. distribution.
