One possibility down, a couple thousand left to go!

In discussions elsewhere, Abel Ferrara, Jesus Franco and Ed Wood have also been eliminated.
Oh, and this director is not currently featured anywhere else in the Arrow catalogue.

Any idea when they might make spill the beans?

Very soon indeed - we could be talking a matter of days. They just need to make sure that everything is completely tied up contractually.

Has Di Leo been ruled out?

Yes, just now, by me.

Just to clarify, by "not currently featured anywhere else in the Arrow catalogue", I'm also including upcoming releases that have already been confirmed. So yes, that rules Di Leo out.
Incidentally, the creation of this thread has just revealed where people have been getting the erroneous impression that this box set is a complete survey! But when TonyleStephanois said:
All the work of one genius, misunderstood director, we hope to change opinion of this man's work with our box set!
...he actually meant that all the films included
in this set are the work of one director,
not that the box contains his entire output. Although it will still cover a very substantial chunk of it, including the vast majority of his best work.

Is also what I'm hoping for. The westerns and Cockfighter. Wasn't a Japanese blu release of Cockfighter scheduled for this month? So there must be a HD master.

Cockfighter can't be legally released in the UK due to its depiction of, funnily enough, cockfighting.

Aye, forgot about that. Might hunt that Japanese release down then.

It's going to be a Confessions Of... complete series, isn't it?
Either that or a double bill of Percy and Percy's Progress.

Andre Delvaux? Helmut Kautner? Zoltan Fabri? Petri?
Spaniards: ¿count Edgar Neville, first Bardem, first Berlanga, the good 60' and 70's Saura, Erice?

Vincente Minnelli has only about 2/3 of his output available and he could certainly be lurking in the mixed-critical reception weeds . . .

Delvaux
has already been done, and Erice's complete works would fit on a couple of BluRays - and almost everything's already available in good editions with subs.

Just finished rewatching Shampoo, and thought of Hal Ashby. No way they'd get the Warner titles, but imagine a BD set with definitive editions of The Landlord, Harold and Maude, The Last Detail, Shampoo, Bound for Glory and Coming Home! Hard to believe so few of these have been given the deluxe treatment. As an extra they could throw in the TV pilot he did with Graham Chapman, Rik Mayall & Peter Cook.

That's probably unlikely with several UK editions of those films still in print including a relatively recent Landlord DVD.

Arrow is in the business of making money, so a lot of these guesses are kind of hilarious. It's obviously going to be someone who could move a lot of units either by virtue of reputation, stars, or genre

I thought this might be Borowczyk, but if that's been ruled out, I'm praying it's either Starevich or Trnka.

This is a risky project (out of necessity, many of the transfers are James White originals, since either there was no video master at all or an ancient analogue one that was useless for our purposes, so the budget's pretty hefty), but you're broadly right - it's not quite as risky as some of these suggestions!
(Great though many of them would undoubtedly be if a benevolent millionaire or two could be found.)

I thought I was unfamiliar with Borowczyk, but then I remembered he directed La bete. Imagining that film getting a James White style refurbish and a premier Arrow BD presentation seems so ridiculous I love the idea. I hope it happens.
If it was Borowczyk, what films would likely make the cut?

Behind Convent Walls could be likely if Borowczyk was being done.
