Well that was a google search the NSA would like to have not followed. Edge of Seventeen was a pretty underrated movie, one of those movies where if it came out during the days of basic cable* I it think would gather a cult following. Even with that from what I understand it's done well Netflix, it's very rewatchable.

*The Beach Bum is another one, they couldn't get that movie out of theaters fast enough, but it would have lived a very long, healthy life on basic cable.

Great-grandson, according to an article on a site dealing with all things crypto:
Mark Yarm wrote:Lyn LaCava [Ross's mother] grew up in a good neighborhood in Bronxville, N.Y., just north of Manhattan. Her mother was a homemaker who, Lyn says, “felt the pain of other people”; as a college student in North Carolina in the mid-’40s, her mom rode in the back of the bus with the black passengers in a show of solidarity. Lyn’s father was a Madison Avenue advertising executive and the son of entertainers: Beryl Morse, a Broadway actress and distant cousin of the inventor of Morse Code, and Gregory La Cava, the Oscar-nominated director of 1930s films My Man Godfrey and Stage Door.

I kind of thought Criterion was over them since I hadn't seen them in a while but I guess not. That being said, I'll take a leaflet over the limited first printing nonsense.
...what "nonsense" is this referring to, please..?

I believe all the UK labels are now booklet only in the first printing.

Had the pleasure of catching this on Nitrate the other night at The American Cinematechque. Is there any genre of film that viewing improves more measurably than classic comedies in a packed theater? With everyone collectively laughing? I found this to be delightful from the outset. My favorite performance is undoubtedly Pallette's as the patriarch and indeed, his jokes about his wife and not having known peace for years had the crowd rolling in their seats. (Interestingly, the jokes about Godfrey being married to an Indian most certainly did not, and I just thought it was funny being with a crowd that was managing which jokes are appropriate and not in real time). But this is also another great performance from Lombard and William Powell is excellent as well.

I've been lucky to catch a number of films on Nitrate now, but I must admit, I struggle to notice the allegedly different quality of picture of a nitrate vs. a more recently printed 35mm print. There were certainly some beautiful moments, especially the lighting and contrast in the early scenes that take place on the East River. However, the thing that most stood out to me is just how tremendously loud this movie is, especially in the scavenger hunt scene with all of the overlapping and nonstop conversation.
