I'm sorry. I had know idea that it was intended to be B&W right from the beginning.
One of these three might be the Pastor from above

Looks like this title has a new--and much better--cover. Love how these guys listen to us! (Sorry--can't seem to paste the image.)

Didn’t realize Park Circus does restorations.

It sounds like they created a 4K DCP for
worldwide theatrical distribution. So some digital restoration might have been part of the deal.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I located the church's youtube video that the congregation made of Pastor Kay. It has a nice breakdown of her on-camera appearances, including for Some Like it Hot. Although I no longer live in Iowa, I do still have family that belong to this congregation. I fully intend to ask them to keep a look-out for her in the upcoming Advent/Christmas services to see if she attends. She is fully retired now, but has always made a point of playing her violin at some point during December traditionally. It would be interesting to see if she is aware of the Criterion release and what her thoughts are.

Judging from the video, I'd say Pastor Kay is the young woman on the right in that photo.

Amazed they bothered with this one since the Kino was actually decent (they'll probably also reissue The Great Escape as yet another redundant release) but the upshot is that they hopefully redo Manchurian with better audio on their 4K.

Kino has probably hurt Criterion’s feelings quite a bit. I hope they’ll start with doing audio improvements to the mono right here with Some Like it Hot. They’ll add a 5.1 mix to their UHD, which surely no one ever requested but if it’s a faithful mix without excessive filtering and no egregious faux-surround effects I’ll take it.

Someone will have to remind me, but was there anything wrong with the mono on Criterion's Blu-ray? Would they be better off just using that one for the 4K?

Criterion did the audio restoration of the mono and employed strong filtering. While there isn’t a post by the reliable Blah-ray, here’s what I found at the other forum:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php? ... stcount=36. People with more knowledge about this mentioned that the last good-sounding mixes for the film were from the Laserdisc and/or MGM DVD. Kino Lorber took Criterion’s mix for their 4K.

I want to hear that audio commentary, but I already have the Kino so I think I'll just snag Criterion's old Blu-ray.

personally think the Kino's Joseph McBride track is superior in every way, but the CC has some really awesome supplements on it so I think it's still worth having the BD
