Wow! That sets sounds very exciting. I have not seen this film, but I am now quite tempted to give it a chance.

Yes, they did put an awful lot of heart into this release, and I'm surprised at how much ended up on here. It's good that all of these materials will finally be out in the public after so many years of obscurity. Furthermore, genre buffs will love it.

I second that notion. I just wish someone would find a way to rescue poor David Allen's lost Primevals project. It's still doable, according to his collaborators. Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to what Selick and Aardman's people can muster over the next several years.

Sweet Baby Jesus! If you don't want to see Equinox don't buy it. You are starting to sound like the typical stupid American who fusses about sex and violence on television and then demands that Congress clean up the airwaves all the while forgetting that the simplest and smartest solution is to either change channels or turn the television off.

I don't want to see Equinox but then I don't want to see Young Mr Lincoln either. I don't plan on buying either and Criterion has not ruined my day, my week, my month or my year by including these titles in their catalogue.

I dont think the problem is not wanting to see equinox. It wouldnt be an issue if they were releasing this alongside other quality releases, but unless they've yet to announce them this is it. Which is disappointing.

DOn't know why there's so much complaining about this release. I think this film is probably one of the most popular releases desired on this board.

If you don't like this genre, then shut up and don't buy it. This is not directed to anyone specific.

I attended a panel with Forry, Bradbury and Harryhausen at last years San Diego Comiccon and Forry was the highlight. He's so damn funny and clever and just plain entertaining. He invited everyone to his house for a tour and gave out his phone number. I think I still have it on my phone.

out of curiosity for the folks that are complaining do you all buy every critierion when it's released? is this part of the frustration?

So then the problem is not with Equinox at all, but with the rate that Criterion is releasing DVDs? So why is this being discussed in the Equinox board?

I'm a big fan of stop-motion, and can't wait for this. Arkadin and Equinox are the ones I'm looking most forward to. It looks like good fun. The ones complaining seem to uptight, like the kind of people who watch nothing but art-films all day because it makes them feel smart. Don't get me wrong, I love Fellini, Bunuel, Godard, Truffaut, Kurosawa, Ozu, etc, but it's always nice to see something diffrent in the collection.

Honesly, people need to stop complaining, it's just a DVD release. Nothing is changing. If Criterion released a movie I didn't like, I won't automatically hate the rest of the collection, I'll just accept it. Just deal with it. Complaining about it won't make Criterion cancel the release.

Me too. People are making a big fuss about it and is making me more curious to see how bad can this film be.

Not all the films in the Criterion Collection have to be GOOD. They can have some kind of importance, either to the film industry or to world culture. Is that so hard to see? I can understand why they chose this film, it's CULTural influence and it's influence on films themselves. Once again don't knock it until you try it.

Haha, I was just going to post that I can't wait to see this, primarily because of the ridiculous apoplexy over its release by the snobbier members of this board.

Isn't it amazing how quickly (5-6 years) it takes before we collectively forget that Criterion used to release movies like The Big Chill and Supercop on laserdisc?

Variety is a good thing.

I remember catching this one by chance years ago. Its great fun. I would happily pay ten dollars for it on DVD, hence my disappointment that Criterion is releasing it. I don't want to pay snob prices unless I get snob status.
