I have absolutely no idea what's being planned re extras - I've made suggestions, of course, but don't know how logistically/financially feasible they are.

Does anyone know where I can find a transcription of the English translation of Alice? I bought the VHS in Czech about 10 years ago from Svankmejer's gallery.

I suspect most of you have seen
the announcement in the BFI thread about
Alice on region-free Blu-ray in the original Czech, but just in case you've missed it...

Přežít svůj život / Surviving Life on
Czech DVD on May 23! (However, the shops don't mention English subtitles at the moment.)

Czech HOH subtitles only, as far as I can see. Unfortunately, this film is Švankmajer's talkiest by some distance...

Got this today, and just finished watching it - looks very good for SD (the film is, of course, excellent

). As opposed to the original listings, there are English, French, Spanish, Italian and German subtitles on the main feature; the (quite extensive) extras are subtitled in at least English. More info @
DVDFreak this Friday, hopefully...

Tedious question: Is the site petoluk linked to the best place to order from internationally?

For the record, the version screened at the London Film Festival featured an English voiceover over Švankmajer's intro, with the rest of the film being in subtitled Czech - so it sounds as though the DVD is the same.

Correct; basically, there's no way to play the entire film in Czech
with subtitles, as Švankmajer's (hilarious) intro is
not subtitled (well, it is - in Czech HoH

), so e.g. English speakers need to go the "intro w/ voice-over + the rest subtitled" way...
