I was almost happy we'd get to see it in some form, but that link says it will be a PG-13 rated producer's cut with the terrible new title Politics of Love. It's better than nothing, but the title change doesn't inspire confidence.

Eh, I'll watch it forty years when some Russell fan does an official maybe director's cut.

That's a terrible idea if for no other reason than the title having been used just a few years ago for some romcom about presidential campaign staffers directed by the guy who made Harry and the Hendersons.

This synopsis is not encouraging.

Formerly known as Nailed (David O. Russell), Politics Of Love tells the story of a small town waitress (Biel), who accidentally gets a nail lodged in her head as her boyfriend (Marsden) attempts his marriage proposal. Her predicament leads her on a journey to Washington DC, where she meets a dashing but clueless congressman (Gyllenhaal), who might be able to help her unusual case.
Will their blossoming romance survive the cut-throat politics of the Capital? With an all-star cast that also includes Catherine Keener, Tracy Morgan, James Brolin and Paul Reubens, Politics Of Love is the funny story of what happens when sparks fly and love interferes with what you stand for.

I like how "an immoral congressman (Gyllenhaal) who takes advantage of her sex drive and capitalizes on her crusade" has become "a dashing but clueless congressman (Gyllenhaal), who might be able to help her unusual case."

Millennium is giving this a U.S. theatrical release on February 10, and it sounds like it may hit VOD platforms before that. The poster and trailer credit the director as "Stephen Greene," which appears to be a pseudonym. Looks awful.

Accidental Love sounds like one of those fake Seinfeld movies

I love how the word and the image of the original title, "nailed," is still all over the poster -- it's literally the tagline. It's like the return of the repressed.

What the...
This has the makings to go down as the most hysterical miscalculation of the year

I wonder if this is a performance art stunt that ends with Russell crashing the premiere and shouting "GUESS AMERICAN HUSTLE DOESN'T LOOK SO BAD NOW, DOES IT?!?!?!?". All the trailer was missing was a record scratch and an animal reaction shot, and it would look completely like a parody.

Oh dear. I was so excited about this film when it was in production & always hoped it would be finished.

BUT NOT LIKE THIS

According to the poster, James Brolin is apparently playing Paul Reubens.

All of these actors I know look so young. It's movie magic!

You never know: hasn't the Obama administration shown us that a messy-seeming, semi-disowned and hobbled by behind the scenes shenanigans approach to healthcare rights always produces a satisfactory outcome?

Even the trailer feels like it has been stuck in development hell.

The release date on the poster looks unfortunately like a rating of the film.

I thought that, with the demise of "Alan Smithee," the DGA effectively prohibited directors' use of pseudonyms...?

They just can't use that one.

And I think it's also more difficult to take your name off a film now, but it's not prohibited. Walter Hill has done it twice since Smithee's death: he's credited as Thomas Lee on Supernova and as Rob Marcus on Madso's War.

I've watched about 2/3 of this movie so far. It's really not too bad.
It doesn't have the energetic forward momentum that other russell films have, I guess a lot of that is accomplished in the editing process. the original music score was obviously done after russell left. But the music is fairly quiet, so it doesn't get in the way.
Jessica Biel, Catherine Keener, and James Marsden are quite funny in this.

I almost picked this up today, but wasn't sure if this was watchable or not ...
