Multiple films per disc, then... the true sign of quality!

This entire thread is very disturbing. I purchased Ford at Fox (with a 40% discount from borders!) and I have not dared opening it. I was thinking of taking it back to the store and opening it in front of them... so if there are scratched discs they can see.

I just want to go on the record and say that my Ford at Fox has absolutely no problems. I guess I'm in the minority, but they're not all scratched up.

For the record, my Ford box arrived with five scratched discs (those very alarming circular scuffs) - Iron Horse (international), The World Moves On, Wee Willie Winkie (untinted), Drums along the Mohawk and My Darling Celementine - but so far all have played fine (haven't checked WWW yet).
Those rubber hubs are a nightmare to work: you need to twist the discs off. The tray design is such that you can do this without the playing surface of the discs coming into contact with the tray, if you're patient. Good luck getting the discs back on.

Having received earnest but empty promises of followup from Fox on the damaged Ford box set, I contacted Barnes and Noble, who sent out a replacement set before I could return the old one. The discs in the second set were, overall, about equivalent in condition to the first, which is to say that most were scratched to some degree. Between the two sets, I salvaged the best copy of each title, managing to replace the most heavily damaged DVDs with better specimens. Fox should acknowledge this problem and make provision for replacement of individual damaged discs, but that probably isn't going to happen.

No kidding, zedz. My discs have gone into slimline jewel cases; the rest of the package is going into storage.

Any news on this? Several of mine are scratched with those circular scratches. I got a great deal on my set, brand new, but still, it's somewhat irksome that this has happened. It's an impressive and beautiful package, but an awful way to store the disks.
If anyone knows of any news on Fox' reaction to this or anything, I'd appreciate it.

Hahaha
Wait, what?
I think it's an attempt at a pizza box.
Or a shoe box, that's more like it

It's a cute idea.
Gone horribly, horribly wrong, of course.

It's astonishing how far Warner Home Video has fallen. You'd think years of good press for steadily releasing affordable discs of catalogue titles in simple keep cases with original poster art would encourage them to keep up the good work. Guess not.

Woah, woah, woooooah...
There were four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies?
They warrant BLU-RAY releases from Warner?
They are packaged in a motherfuckin' PIZZA BOX?
Has there been a management change at Warner in the last year? What the hell is going on over there?

Mine too, this would have been my ideal Christmas present back in, er, 1991. I lived on bits of crappy TMNT merchandise, including those (in retrospect, disgusting) mini-pizzas. If I were a Turtles-fanboy, the naffness alone of this pizza-box thing would take me right back, and make me weep for the loss of innocence.

Wait, how does everyone not agree that this packaging is amazing?

Thank you mfunk, I think it's impressive. I would so buy this, but I never actually liked the movies.

Beats me. I think it's wonderful & perfect for the product.
Of course I won't be buying it because I have zero interest in the films, but the package design is very inventive.

Totally impractical. Imagine opening this thing to get a disc, how big this get. It's too big for nothing too (are pizza box that high?). I like the printing style on the top cover though. But the blu-ray banner ruins it. When are they going to get rid of that blue thing?
Can't wait for the G.I. Joe film to be released
that way with the disc instead of the figurine.

With all of the space between the DVD hubs with loose T-shirts and stuff stored in it, I would expect
a lot of DVDs to get knocked / pulled off their hubs during shipping ..... and then be bouncing around in the box.
When I look at that packaging, what I see is basically a machine designed to deliver scratched DVDs.

Oh My Good Christ! You managed to take what will be the most depressing film release of the year (for me) and turn it into the (my) most anticipated dvd release. (Only to have it turn into a future disappointment when the crappy cover is announced for it.)

plain cardboard is awesome? I don't think so.
They should have packaged it in a plastic turtle shell

Or the muthafuckin turtlemobile (or whatever they called it). If they had done that then I would've bought this despite it containing TMNT. The first movie is the single best adaptation of any animated Saturday cartoon to the screen. That's right, even better than
Underdog! I said it!

I thought that first film was based more on the comic book. That is why the films is darker while the other 2 live action are more slapstick and cartoonish.

Didn't I get into an argument with you guys about the third one being less crappy than the second one? I still stand by that.
I think the packaging is "cute" but it's badly done. The cheap cardboard doesn't help, but even worse is that it's as big as a shoebox as previously mentioned and that it looks like a pain in the ass to get the discs out of there.
