That's terrible - Ioan Gruffud
might be able to work in the role if we just have faith in him!
However now I've got visions of doing this story as a musical with Rice doing a gigantic showstopping number ("I'm pumping, pumping the oil of your love") on the deck of the oil tanker named after her!

The wacky casting gives me hope that it's going to be like the best episode of The Love Boat
ever. I just hope Charo shows up.

The casting for this movie is a joke. If Stone wanted to be taken seriously he should have casted no name actors and actresses.
That and it's too soon for this movie. It should really come out long after the administration has been retired when dirty discoveries can be unearthed.

The cast is exactly the only reason to see this movie

The oddest thing about the Bush administration and family is that their dirty laundry is pretty much public knowledge (ie. cocaine, alcoholism, nepotism Laura Bush killing somebody etc). Unfortunately, it appears Stone is only going to address them in the most perfunctory "i-wanted-to-please-daddy" framework.

The Hollywood Reporter:
Oliver Stone has found the actress to play Condoleezza Rice in his upcoming "W," with Thandie Newton in final negotiations to star as the National Security Advisor-turned-Secretary of State.
Meanwhile, Ioan Gruffudd is in final talks to play former British prime minister Tony Blair.
Surely Michael Sheen can reprise the role once more?

I didn't know he was still in show business--get thee back to
The Daily Show's "This Week in God"!

He had a pretty convincing role in Semi-Pro.
Not that I saw that movie.

I believe that's exactly what he will be doing, but in a different movie - Peter Morgan is
reputedly scripting a follow-up to
The Deal and
The Queen that will focus on the Blair-Bush relationship in the early 2000s.
Interestingly, Blair was the undoubted villain of
The Deal (whose brooding tragic hero was, erm, Gordon Brown), but portrayed much more sympathetically in
The Queen - so it's anyone's guess what Morgan's take will be this time round.

Not matter how much makeup and boxy clothing she puts on, Elizabeth Banks is completely wrong for the role. All I keep picturing is the hot nymphomaniac from
40 Year Old Virgin.

My money's on an "I have a dream"-style starry-eyed awakening to a cause following 9/11 ("I-am-the-people's....warmonger") in the next Morgan film to be followed after that by taking on tortured Christlike characteristics with GB (the person and the country) cast as Judas, which then paves the way for his religious conversion upon leaving office and his ironic sabbatical in the Holy Land trying to convert the non-believers with the winning catchphrase "peace or death (and maybe both)"!

Brolin, Banks and Corddry in a Bush biopic, this is my movie of the year. The excerpts of the script from the EW making-of just make it that much sweeter.

Brother in Arms In a 2003 sit-down with Saudi ambassador Prince Bandar, Bush explains that he has given up sweets since the beginning of the Iraq war. ''This is my personal sacrifice to show support for our troops,'' he says.
I really hope this actually happened

I can't wait.
