A number of online retailers list this as in-stock. Anybody get it yet? What's the word on the transfers?

...and I am curious if anyone has a clearer idea of the packaging. I am scared and confused by the square looking box that is being shown to me. Is this going to be an awkward thing to place on my shelf?

Given that it's going to be sitting next to two other huge Hitchcock boxes on the shelf, I can't see the harm in one more

DVD Empire has a picture of the back cover, which includes a picture of the set "unboxed." It still kinda doesn't make sense to me, though.

They might as well have just thrown all the discs haphazardly into the box, allowing them to crack into "Hitchcockian" shards.

Alright, I'll begrudgingly admit that the MGM caps do look considerably better.

I've never actually gotten around to listening to one of Casper's commentaries. Just watching his on-camera segments on the WB film noir and gangster docs were enough to throw a scare into me. He seems to combine the pretentious, academic twit mannerisms of that a-hole from the Actor's Studio with the theatrical dress and stare of John Candy's Dr. Tongue. I half expect him to start moving his head back and forth into the lens and asking if we like the 3-D effect. Truly frightening!

Casper is the guy who was complaining about how underrated Michael Curtiz is on one of the gangster docs, no? If so, yeah, he´s pretty frightening...

I've had the unfortunate experience of being in a few of his classes and it is truly horrifying. He reminds be of a gay William Sadler with a ton of face work.

The Lifeboat commentary by Drew Casper is quite good. Maybe the only problem was the blank spots toward the end. But I guess for some people, that wouldn't be a problem.

I really, really want this set. Can anyone confirm that this has sleeves? That would be a damn shame.

So from what I see not only is this cube shaped, it's ENORMOUS and cube shaped and the discs are haphazzardly slid into jagged sleeves?

I had this on pre-order for the longest time but cancelled. I'm sure I'll end up getting it anyway, but not going to rush on it. Want to hear more feedback first. I sold my Criterions and intended on replacing them with this.

I have all Criterion Hitchcock films. I also have the Hitchcock Masterpiece collection and Hitchcock signature collection. I have hitchcock 3 disc collection edition, the early year of the master of suspense by studio canal (most of films are silent)

I have 1-3 seasons of Hitchcock Presents tv show series

I have two single dvd; lifeboat and To Catch a Thief

You can see me as serious Hitchcock DVD collector and I am depend on english subtitle.

Is it worth for me to buy Alfred Hitchcock Premier Collection ? only 83.99 on amazon.com and its does have english subtitle. what do you think ?

To add a practical consideration to what has already been said about the packaging: If you have storage shelves which store DVD's two-deep, this set will not leave space for another DVD behind it. There was absolutely no reason to design it this deep.

Not that this isn't terrible packaging, but why in the world would you store DVDs two-deep

I don't know, I think it looks like a very informative cookbook. And it even comes with coasters!

Shortage of storage space! Admittedly it is inconvenient, but it stores twice as many DVD's per linear foot.

That atrocious packaging has cemented my decision not to get this thing. I've kept all of my Criterions, and will be content with those for now.

With all of the commentaries they recorded, MGM has invested too much money in all of these titles to keep them exclusive to that ugly-ass box forever. I'm sure there will be a period of exclusivity, and then Young and Innocent, Sabotage, The Paradine Case, and The Lodger will all be quietly released individually. When they show up for $8.99 at Costco, I'll complete my collection.
