No humility on their part at all. But then this is the studio that thinks Braveheart and now American Beauty et al are worthy of the Sapphire label.

Well, they made a ton of money and won a lot of awards. Are there set criteria to the Sapphire Line?

Fair point as it's really just another special edition moniker. It's just dispiriting to see terrible films like the aforementioned two (Gladiator is no great shakes either but at least it's fun) getting the luxury treatment while more deserving films (let alone their classic catalogue) are left out in the cold.

American Beauty review at Bluray.com

Another semi-bomb of a transfer of such a visually wonderful film. Not as bad as the Gladiator foul-up, but not as pristine as Braveheart. What the hell is going on over at Paramount?

They keep fucking up their Saphire releases. What's is up with this?
