Movie-Brat wrote:Is Destroyer even any good? Because what was with all the "killer powered by electricity" motif thing in the late 80's? Just curious. Either way, I'll take it. Because I really like the movie Scarecrows.
I haven't seen it...but it has Anthony Perkins, so won't be a total waste of time. Heck, I suffered through Edge of Sanity for him!

Scream edited out the mention of Exterminators of the Year 3000/Cruel Jaws Blu-ray from their facebook post. Suspect Universal stepped in because of the stolen footage in Cruel Jaws.

They explain it here. Exterminators will be a standalone release.

Didn't realize Code Red was run by Tarzan.

With Tarzan there's never any question what he's referring to. Seriously, what's he talking about? Is there some missing context? Code Red never released Cruel Jaws, so it's not like they slipped it past Universal. Maybe he's pissed because Code Red released Exterminators on DVD, but I don't know what Universal has to do with that, plus it looked like CR just mastered it from an old pan-and-scan VHS ("money put into my releases" indeed).

No new transfer for Dog Soldiers:
Just received official word: Although we have plenty of extras in store for the release, we unfortunately cannot do a new scan of transfer because our licensor does not have any film elements for us to do so.

I was reading through the blu-ray.com thread for the Herzog set and it's sort of amazing to me how there are people who rule out owning it solely because of the packaging size. Like, how it fits on a shelf is more important than seeing the actual films. I like reasonable packaging too, but come on...

The Mr. Magoo Theatrical Collection set seems to backordered everywhere (except Amazon Canada). Amazon was listing it as "unavailable" a couple days ago & now lists it as only available from 3rd party sellers. I checked MMM, and it seems like it is still in print (if I am reading the page correctly). Maybe Shout Factory is between print runs?

Edit: Oh, and it seems to be available directly from Shout Factory. But weird that nobody else seems to have it.

Sleepaway Camp II and III Blu-rays coming next summer.
"Angela" is coming back to Scream Factory...

Next Summer we are planning to release Blu-ray Collector's Editions of both SLEEPAWAY II: UNHAPPY CAMPERS & SLEEPAWAY CAMP III: TEENAGE WASTELAND. Both films were requested heavily after we released the original this past May. No details to report at this time on extras, transfers, artwork etc.

As we start to wind down for the holidays (we will be out of the office from 12/24 - 1/5) we wanted to share with you this exciting news beforehand. We thank you for your loyal and undying support this crazy year (over 40 releases!) and we hope to entice you with more greatness and rediscoveries in 2015.

Apparently, Philippe Mora spilled the beans on Howling II: Your Sister's a Werewolf getting the Scream Factory treatment.

Obviously, Christopher Lee forgot about working on it after apologizing to Joe Dante.

Hopefully we'll get a slipcover identifying the film properly as Howling II : Stirba, Werewolf Bitch (still one of the greatest titles to anything ever)

Escape From New York cover art and confirmation that they have done a new transfer
Image
**BREAKING: ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK Release News**

We have some “A-number one” updates to report today regarding our upcoming (and highly-anticipated) Collector’s Edition of John Carpenter’s legendary film ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK:

- Here’s an exclusive first look at the official newly-commissioned artwork which comes courtesy to us from artist Paul Shipper (Halloween: The Complete Collection). Snake is centrally focused of course, but we felt that it was important to showcase the incredible ensemble cast who are all vitally important to the film too. Purists can rejoice: The iconic original poster art with the beheaded Statue of Liberty will be on the reverse wrap and we wouldn’t dream of not including it!

- Extras (new & existing) are still in progress and will be announced in full details sometime in Feb. This is a 2-disc blu-ray set and will exceed the previous DVD special edition.

- Last and not least (and which will be good news to fans hoping this would happen): We have created a brand new 2K High Definition scan of the inter-positive, struck from the original negative.

- This is a Region A release. Street date is 4/21. You can pre-order the release directly from us @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;…/escape-from-new-york-collect…. Amazon and other fine online retailer pre-order links should be going up soon in the upcoming months. Note: If you do order from us on ours site, you’ll receive it two weeks earlier than the national street date and receive an 18” x 24” poster of the new art. Please keep in mind that the poster is only made in limited quantities.
