The Last Detail is with Mill Creek.

Some wishful thinking but here it is:

Tati Box
Hiroshima mon amour/Night and Fog
The Kid
Love Streams

Just give me a new (but exciting) Eclipse set and I'll be happy.

I've been trolling the Amazon website hoping they reveal the new releases today. So far to no avail.

Anyways, I am going to throw some darts out there into the air while blindfolded: Scanners, Rumble Fish, Do the Right Thing upgrade, Jungle Fever and another movie very unlikely to make its Criterion debut anytime soon : Chameleon Street . Would be nice to get a surprise today.

Anyways, I am sure we will be left with something amazing this month.

I'm hoping for Coming Home (Hal Ashby). Seems like the perfect time, if not a tad late, to release Bruce Dern's only other Oscar nomination. Barnes and Noble pulled it from their inventory after they had it during the "EW's 100 Greatest Movies" sale.

I predict that in the end, nobody will be happy.

According to this post, Mill Creek said they do not have the Blu-ray rights to The Last Detail

Criterion has never done a Blu-ray only release, there's no reason to believe they'd start just because some of you really like the movie

I wasn't aware of that post. Good news!

Judex, Hearts and Minds, and A Hard Day's Night rounding out the month.

Glad I never picked up the MOC Judex. I will have to get that. Looks like a really great month.

My MoC copy of Judex arrived last week. You're welcome guys.

I'm sure Nuits rouges makes it a worthwhile purchase anyway, so I don't feel too burnt.

Hmmm. I wonder if this means that Magnificent Obsession isn't getting an upgrade after all...

Interesting that it looks like A Hard Day's Night is getting stripped-down and deluxe releases. The dual-format SKU is 3 discs, but the DVD-only is just 1.

Holy cow! Hearts and Minds is going to finally have the deleted material originally promised upon its initial DVD release. I've always wondered why that was canceled at the last minute.

Also, I guess we aren't going to get the rumored Weir box after all. I'm still very happy with having a Picnic at Hanging Rock upgrade!

I suppose I've been a little spoiled by the many 4K scans in recent months. Not to complain - I'm sure they'll all look lovely and this is far and away the best month in a VERY long time.

Just curious - what makes this one of the best months? Hard Day's Night?

If the movie's compressed down into 1080p, would a 2K or 4K restoration source make that much of a difference provided that they're both done with similarly modern tools?

That's how all the upcoming DVD-only releases are - single movie disc without the 2nd bonus features disc.

I suppose if they're going to upgrade Picnic without The Last Wave showing up at the same time, I'm just going to assume I can confidently just finally buy a used copy of the Last Wave DVD, because it's probably gonna be a while.

Personally, upgrades on a couple of beloved titles that I and others here have been waiting on for years. Yeah, it's an upgrade-heavey month but I genuinely love four of these films.
