But that's exactly what the Bete Humaine cover is. You seem to be contradicting yourself a bit, I don't know if you've noticed it.
Sorry, I should have been more clear. In the world of still shot/words covers, the cover for La Bete Humaine is quite eye-catching and about as good as it gets, while the one for The Virgin Spring is kind of blah. Ideally they would have used some original poster art or something more unique for both covers, but the current cover for La Bete Humaine is something I could live with.

Off topic but what's with the dot dot dot on both of these covers?

Same artist, perhaps?

3 women, 3 dots?? Not really sure.......

Actually, I think the use of the 3 dots, or "periods" (to use the parlance of our times), was used by the artist to underscore the unity and linking of the 3 female protagonists. By grouping those dots, the alignment of their menstrual cycle is alluded to. This, of course, can happen to a group of females who live or work together, and it also suggests the ideas of fertility, life, as well as the cyclic nature of life. These themes are explored throughout the film. OK, I'm completely bullshitting, so please don't take offense to my "discussion" of menstrual cycles. It seemed funny to me at the time.

I can't imagine that there's any link between those 2 films. Annie, I would also guess that it's probably the same artist.

You almost had me convinced! In fact, I think that would make a very twisted short story in itself!

My theory is that it's a sort of signature by the guy who did them. Next thing, we'll all be looking for other covers with those triple dots in them!

They are just 3 dots that look pretty.

They have no 'meaning'.

Besides, the actual finished artwork for 3 Women doesn't even have the dots.

The Virgin Spring cover is up at criterion.com. Not what I was expecting but it's kinda growin on me.It's very Noirish, nothing like Annie Mall's cover. If I were more computer savvy I'd import the picture.

Everytime I see this image I think, "Ride it, Girl. Oh yeah, you like it don't you."

They do on Le Notti Bianche. Two dots together and one off on its own.

Its about being raped and having an orgasm at the same time.

That shot makes her look much older than I remember in the film.

They should have used the shot of Sydow throwing around the herdsman after he goes ballistic.

I think that a picture like the one below would have been more in tune with the feel of the movie (though I know this one's a bit cliched)

Way too obvious!
Everytime I see this image I think, "Ride it, Girl. Oh yeah, you like it don't you."
Funny. I think your spending too much time with your sheep in the back paddock though.

I don't mind the image, I guess it's the "Virgin Mary ascending to heaven pose." I do it all the time.

Annie's pic makes it look like a Werner Herzog film.

What's the design on the knife handle, a bat? Does it have anything to do with the film or are they just throwing on cool graphics now?

Seeing as she portrays a rape victim, but appears to be in a contrary state of sensual ecstasy in the photo, juxtaposed with a definitely phallic dagger image, I'm not sure about the appropriateness of this cover (in all senses)... It leaves me feeling uncomfortable... CC should lose the dagger at least....

I actually prefer this (Region 4) cover - minus the classification sticker, of course. It's both tender and a little disturbing.

Better, but not disturbing enough for my taste. The "disturbing-factor" in the artwork from "I am curious" is what I would have preferred. Some would say too obvious, but sometimes obvious works for me (most of the time in fact). I actually get a Danish viking feeling from the CC cover!

Found this fan art over at "the other" CC forum.

It is only fanboy creation, but I like it more.

Why won't that work?
